The federal government is spending nearly $1 million to create an online database that will track “misinformation” and hate speech on Twitter. Those behind the grant say: “This service could mitigate the diffusion of false and misleading ideas, detect hate speech and subversive propaganda, and assist in the preservation of open debate.”
The National Science Foundation is financing the creation of a web service that will monitor “suspicious memes” and what it considers “false and misleading ideas,” with a major focus on political activity online.
The “Truthy” database, created by researchers at Indiana University, is designed to “detect political smears, astroturfing, misinformation, and other social pollution.”
One G-man’s “social pollution” is another free man’s First Amendment right. The very term sounds like something out of a 1920s Italian fascist tract. And why is the federal government even deciding which ideas are “false and misleading,” let alone tracking them?
According to the project’s grant, the service “could mitigate the diffusion of false and misleading ideas, detect hate speech and subversive propaganda, and assist in the preservation of open debate.”
In 2004, dissent was “the highest form of patriotism.” A decade later, it’s called “subversive propaganda” and categorized as the lowest form of treason. Truthy would add a button to Twitter so that people could report their neighbors and family members for Thoughtcrime against the State.
Filippo Menczer (who sounds like an author of that 1920s Italian fascist tract) is Truthy’s lead investigator and closely affiliated with “non-partisan” groups like President Obama’s Organizing for Action, Moveon.org and Greenpeace. The software’s very name comes from ardent conservative hater Stephen Colbert.
It’s hard to denounce the more paranoid allegations of Obama’s opponents when his administration routinely goes beyond their wildest imaginings. We are definitely living in George Orwell's 1984.
These guys know their Orwell. Only a government inspired by the Ministry of Truth would quash “subversive propaganda” in the name of “open debate.”

Federal Government/Executive Branch Rules. Both Obama and Bush are responsible. These rules are illegal, non-public and classified. The rules absolutely deprive Americans of their Constitutional Rights.
Rule 1: Classify all Americans as terrorists and deny them their Constitutional Rights.
Rule 2: Murder those Americans that do not comply.
Rule 3: Do not inform the American people of actual or potential harm due to the incompetence, negligence or criminal activity of the Federal Government.
Rule 4: Violate International, National and State laws to cover-up and/or keep secret the criminal, unethical and immoral conduct of the Federal Government.
Rule 5: Use propaganda to manipulate the American people. This includes desensitizing Americans.
Please let me explain. By classifying Americans as terrorists the Executive Branch can bypass the Federal Judiciary thereby denying an individual his Constitutional Rights. Coast Guard Commander William Goetzee and I are perfect example as we were deprived and denied of our Constitutional and Civil Rights. The Federal Government attempted to murder me by medicating me against my will with psychotropic drugs. The Federal Government murdered Coast Guard commander Goetzee.

Amendment 5: Self-incrimination.

Amendment 8: Excessive bail shall not be required, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
We need to be protected from the Federal Government. Gun control is not the answer. Forcing the Federal Government to follow the law is the answer. Tell us the truth.

Colleen McCool You'd think from most corporate media reports: the only choice this year is either Obama or Romney. They just don't get it. Issues not politics as usual are actually going to play an important part in this presidential election. Gary Johnson,Judge Jim Gray and Ron Paul agree on nearly every single issue that matters to true patriots: liberty-minded Americans.
A more accurate label for our "government" would be, "criminal gang," though many will find that shocking due to the Stockholm Syndrome. The entire world suffers from Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to politicians and The State. If you or I kill, rape, assault, steal, or defraud, we are criminals and the same moral standards must apply to government. They can NOT magically turn wrong into right. No matter how hard they try with the Euphemism Disease, allowing the speaker to make criminal and immoral acts sound virtuous. For example: using threats of violence to take money from people against their will, don't call it theft or looting or legalized extortion or larceny - call it forfeiture, taxation, insurance or investment.

A new book set to be published has raised eyebrows at the department of defense. Entitled “No Easy Day”, it was written - without government permission - by a Navy SEAL who participated in the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden.
“No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama bin Laden” is a military memoir set to be published on September 11 by Dutton publishing, a subsidiary of Penguin Group USA. The author, writing under the pen name Mark Owen, is a former Navy SEAL who participated in the 2011 raid that killed America’s most wanted man.
The author has said in a press release through his publishers that the book is an attempt to “set the record straight about one of the most important missions in US military history."
“‘No Easy Day’ is the story of ‘the guys’, the human toll we pay, and the sacrifices we make to do this dirty job,” according to Owen.
According to his publishers, Owen was "one of the first men through the door on the third floor of the terrorist leader's hideout and was present at his death."
However, none of the major government authorities involved in the planning and execution of the raid – the Pentagon, the White House, or the CIA – have vetted the book, and the author could face criminal charges if he reveals any classified information about the events of that fateful day.
"This book came as a surprise to folks at the Pentagon," a senior defense official said, speaking on condition of anonymity, as reported by Reuters. "Naturally, we'll be interested to read the book when it is made available."
The White House was equally surprised, as spokesman Tommy Vietor said "We learned about this book today from press reports. We haven't reviewed it and don't know what it says."
And the CIA? "As far as we can determine, this book was not submitted for pre-publication review," according to spokesman Preston Golson.
Dutton says the book was vetted by a former special operations officer provided by the author and that no confidential information had been revealed.
Former special operations agents must often sign nondisclosure agreements, forbidding them to release sensitive information.
With controversy swirling around White House intelligence leaks running up to the November presidential election, and Obama under Republican criticism that he is taking too much credit for the May 2011 raid, there is speculation that the book is in some way politically motivated.
However, no one can really know until its release on the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine is coming under fire for comments during a live show in which he suggested that the Obama administration could have been responsible for staging the ‘Batman’ massacre – but Mustaine’s remarks were echoed by none other than Gun Owners of America director Larry Pratt.
During a concert in Singapore, Mustaine remarked that President Obama was trying to pass gun control legislation.
“So he’s staging all of these murders, like the ‘Fast And Furious’ thing down at the border, Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there, and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple,” said Mustaine, before adding, “I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.”
Mustaine has since been savaged by numerous media outlets for his comments despite the fact that the Fast and Furious program, which saw the Obama administration put guns directly in the hands of Mexican drug cartels, has led to the murders of hundreds of people.
However, Mustaine’s suspicion surrounding the recent mass shootings was echoed by Gun Owners of America director Larry Pratt, a respected voice in the gun rights movement, who himself shared his own suspicions about the ‘Batman’ massacre during an interview with Alex Jones last month.
