Elected and Above the Law: Bill ''Would Exempt Lawmakers from Prosecution of Nearly Any Crimes''

Mac Slavo

This one is just too rich. The arrogance and absurdity is over the top.

Granted, most of the political class is already de facto above the law to begin with.

But now, a lawmaker in Oklahoma has introduced a bill to officially give most lawmakers, judges, appointees and holders of high office immunity from prosecution.

Shhhh… The Crime Rate in Chicago Took a Nose-Dive. Here’s Why

Aaron Nelson (The Anti-Media)
In 2012, Chicago was the murder capital of America. That December, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit struck down the ban Illinois had in place on concealed carry. This year was the first time the new concealed carry program was implemented in the state.
Guess what? In the first quarter of 2014, the homicide rate in Chicago dropped to the lowest we have seen in 56 years. Auto theft rates have dropped by 26% and burglaries are down by 20%.
Well, what do you know? Now that people can defend themselves in public, Chicago’s notorious crime rate has suddenly plummeted. It’s not rocket science. For some reason I doubt the cops are responsible for the sudden turnaround.
If I were you, I would worry about the militarization of the police, Piers.

The Peacekeeper Vision

Communities of people who look out for each other. Neighbors and friends who help each other out when someone has an emergency, be it a robbery or just a bad fall.  Individuals who stand up for themselves and those they care about, rather than relying on a bureaucratic system to save them.
This is the vision of Peacekeeper. It’s an app, but it’s more than that. At its heart, Peacekeeper is about independence and personal empowerment.
The problem right now is that people are increasingly isolated from each other and reliant on system that either doesn’t serve them well or outright fails. There’s nothing wrong with calling 911, but relying exclusively on them is a mistake when the average emergency is over well before the centralized and bureaucratic system can send someone to help. More than that, though, relying on this sort of bureaucracy for salvation robs us of our independence.
It’s our opinion people are mostly benevolent: deep down, we have a gut instinct to care for those we’re close to. Suppressing that instinct in favor of one single solution without options doesn’t really speak to our nature or our humanity.
Peacekeeper aims to fix that.
Our vision is of tight-knit communities that look out for each other, and that embody three key values: protection, independence, and benevolence. We like to consider these our objectives as a company, and we hope the community chooses to adopt them as well.

Little Rock Implements Orwellian Police State: Operation Ceasefire

"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever."
--George Orwell

by Mark Daniels
Arkansas Police Accountability Project

(Little Rock, AR) Little Rock Police Department's Operation Ceasefire:  Necessary Police Action or A Slippery Slope Spiraling Downward Toward an Orwellian Nightmare?

As reported by local news, this year is being called one of the deadliest in Little Rock history with a total of 29 homicides so far.  To fight back, the Little Rock Police Department has implemented Operation Ceasefire to saturate neighborhoods notorious for crime.  Fox16's Melissa Schroeder recently did a ride along with SWAT officers and reported that "Little Rock SWAT officers are out in full force--seven days a week from 3-11 p.m.--working to stop crimes before it starts".

"SWAT officers are out in full force...working to stop crime before it starts"?

Some people may say that police actions such as this are necessary to fight violent crime while others will counter that we are already on a slippery slope spiraling downward toward a truly Orwellian nightmare with increased militarization of the local police departmentsincreased reports of police brutality and the largest per capita prison population in the world.  Arkansas jails and prisons are vastly overcrowded and while the establishment politicians are willing to concede the fact that we need reform to address the problem, neither the Democrat or Republican candidate for Governor is willing to acknowledge the empirical data that proves drug policy is a major contributing factor.  Fortunately, the Libertarian Party candidate, Frank Gilbert, is not only willing to acknowledge the empirical data, he has stated that he will pardon all persons imprisoned in Arkansas for non violent drug offenses.  Mr. Gilbert also supports legalizing marijuana.

The Stated Goal  and Alternative Solutions

The stated goal of the Operation Ceasefire program is to decrease violent crime, most of which is related to the drug trade. However, the violence of the drug war is a direct result of prohibition, and the best way to stop that violence is to end prohibition; not to implement an Orwellian Police State * (see description at the end of this article).

The steady increase in violent crime over the past few decades is directly correlated with the escalation of the drug war. As we saw during the times of alcohol prohibition, when you ban any inanimate object, you create an incentive for people to get involved in the black market distribution of that object. Since there is no accountability, or means of peaceful dispute resolution within the black market, buyers and sellers are forced to resort to violence as their sole means of handling disagreements.

Eventually, this violence spills over into the everyday world and effects everyone’s lives. No one could imagine Budweiser and Miller Lite in a back alley gunfight, but less than a century ago during alcohol prohibition, distributors of the drug were involved in shootouts on a regular basis, just as drug gangs are today. Of course, all of this violence came to an immediate end when alcohol was legalized, however, it was not long before the establishment found a new crusade in the drug war, which allowed them to continue the same policy just with different substances.

There is significant evidence that legalizing or decriminalizing drugs actually does reduce violent crime. The murder rate in Denver was actually cut in half following marijuana legalization.

As reported by Glenn Greenwald in Drug Decriminalization in Portugal:  Lessons for Creating Fair and Successful Drug Policies, since Portugal decriminalized all drugs, including cocaine and heroin, on July 1, 2001, none of the nightmare scenarios touted by pre-enactment decriminalization opponents--from rampant increases in drug usage among the young to the transformation of Lisbon into a haven for "drug tourists"--has occurred.  In fact, the empirical data indicates that decriminalization has had no adverse effect on drug usage rates in Portugal.  Although drug usage rates have remained roughly the same or even decreased slightly, drug-related pathologies--such as sexually transmitted diseases and deaths due to drug usage--have decreased dramatically. Furthermore, the data show that, judged by virtually every metric, the Portuguese decriminalization framework has been a resounding success. Within this success lie self-evident lessons that should guide drug policy debates around the world. Read the Full White Paper Here

A Nationwide Campaign

Little Rock's Operation Ceasefire is most likely part of a Nationwide Campaign which began in the mid-1990's in the City of Boston.  As reported by Melanie W. Rambaud in Behind the Guns: The Failure of Boston’s Operation Ceasefire Intervention to Address the Root Causes of Youth Homicide:

Operation Ceasefire was an ineffective long-term youth violence reduction intervention because it was limited to a deterrence strategy. As a public health intervention, deterrence is ineffective to change behavior, particularly gun violence, because it does not address the root causes of behavior. Violence is multi-factorial with both individual and societal causes, it requires multi-faceted efforts. In order to effectively intervene it is important to understand that violence emerges from multiple and complex environmental, economical, and cultural factors. An effective violence reduction intervention must then be a comprehensive, community-oriented approach that focuses on the circumstances that put people at high risk of engaging in or being victimized by violence. What is essential is a long-term community mobilization strategy focused on prevention that promotes youth development in the context of their community and does not emphasize punishment as a deterrent to reduce youth gun violence.

In sum, we are provided a false choice by the Little Rock Police Department:  tolerate increased violence from "criminals" or tolerate an increased level of police action which often leads to violence. The real choice is between an Orwellian nightmare or effective and efficient police and drug policy. What are your thoughts? Are the human and financial costs of these type of police actions justified or do you think it would be better to end the war on drugs?

Watch Harodim (Full Length Movie)

Lazarus Fell, a former naval intelligence officer trained in black ops and tasked with tracking down the most wanted Terrorist in the world, has gone rogue, realizing his mission has been inexplicably compromised by his own chain of command. As a result, Lazarus has faked his own death, forsaken his life, his family and all that matters to him in the world, to continue his solitary pursuit. But he has personal motivations as well, believing his father, Solomon Fell, Chief of Operations for the Office of Naval Intelligence, was killed in the attacks of 9/11 the event masterminded by the selfsame Terrorist.

At long last, after more than 10 years spent in a ceaseless global manhunt, Lazarus has run his quarry to ground in the last place imaginable Vienna. The most wanted man in the world has been living here openly for many years in the lap of western decadence. Lazarus, having reached the climax of his obsessive quest for the truth and fueled by his own visions of personal revenge, has laid his plans well. Operating from a long-forgotten Nazi-era train station buried deep beneath the streets of the city, Lazarus has made his move, abducting his prey to begin an exhaustive, videotaped interrogation before executing him.

But the interrogation is about to reveal facts about recent world history that Lazarus is totally unprepared for the truth behind the events of 9/11, the real origins and purpose of al Qaeda and much much more, culminating in the revelation of a terrifying, generations-old Plan for world domination set in motion by a shadowy secret society that holds the strings of international finance, has infiltrated the government and military of the United States at the highest levels and, in which he, Lazarus, is destined to play a pivotal role a role prepared for him long ago without his knowledge or consent: a Plan in which the specter of mind control looms over the free will he believed was his and, through which, the future of the globe hangs in a precarious balance.

Harodim is a film unlike any you have seen before, seamlessly blending actual news, archive and documentary footage with a chillingly plausible narrative so compelling the viewer will not know where to draw the line between fact and fiction, creating a haunting and terrifying vision of what might actually exist behind the chaos and unrest of the world we live in today. It is a singular cinematic experience which will challenge your belief in the reality hidden inside the mainstream news reports brought to you daily by a familiar host of corporate sponsors.

The History of Gun Control

The History of Gun Control

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
The History of Gun Control

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Let’s see how many defenseless people were exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control:

Country Year(s) People
Exterminated
USSR 1929-1953 20,000,000
Turkey 1915-1917 1,500,000
Germany 1939-1945 13,000,000
China 1948-1952 20,000,000
Guatemala 1964-1981 100,000
Uganda 1971-1979 300,000
Cambodia 1975-1977 1,000,000

Total: 56 million.

Governments around the World need a history lesson.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by
new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their
own government, a program costing Australian taxpayers more than $500
million dollars. The first year results are now in:
1) Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.
2) Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.
3) Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent!)
4) In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.

Note, that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals
did not, and criminals still possess their guns! While figures over the
previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with
firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months,
since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of
the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how
public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort
and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns.

The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Yu_wT7Th6w

You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians
disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens
save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect
only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late! The next time
someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this
history lesson.
With guns, we are ‘citizens.’ Without them, we are ’subjects.’

"No man’s life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session."

Attorney Leaks Dash Cam Video of Police Shooting After DA Rules Shooting Justified

Reason.com

If you ever see a news story about a police shooting that the local district attorney does not rule justified, please e-mail me. For now, the story: Ernest Duenez was a parolee shot to death during a traffic stop a year and a half ago. He was the passenger in a vehicle pulled over because the “officer had knowledge that Duenez, a wanted parolee, was inside the vehicle and considered armed and dangerous,” according to the Modesto Bee. The district attorney ruled the police officer was justified in shooting Duenez 13 times because the parolee brandished a knife at the officer, was wanted and considered armed and dangerous, and had a lengthy criminal record.
While Duenez’ family has been protesting for the last year and a half, with two police officers even getting a temporary restraining order against his brother, the case didn’t receive much attention.
After the DA ruled the shooting justified, the family’s attorney decided to release the dash cam video on which part of the DA’s conclusions were based. The video, and the case, went viral. Dash cam video in full below:

Update: Armed SWAT Teams To Patrol Streets In Arkansas City

Update: Rita Sklar, executive director of ACLU-Arkansas, said that aspects of Paragould Police Chief Todd Stovall's plan to have officers dressed in SWAT gear and armed with AR-15 assault rifles demanding ID from citizens in high crime areas shows that he has "zero understanding of Constitutional rights, period." Meanwhile, the Paragould PD issued a statement yesterday cancelling further town hall meetings on the proposal, citing "public safety" concerns after a growing backlash about the proposal. Paragould, Arkansas Mayor Mike Gaskill and Police Chief Todd Stovall announced at a December 14 Town Hall meeting that beginning in 2013 the streets of their city were going to be patrolled by police officers bearing SWAT gear and AR-15s. “If you’re out walking, we’re going to stop you, ask why you’re out walking, and check for your ID.”
The move comes in response to a recent increase in violent crime. In a city with a population of only 26,113, Paragould had 86 rapes, robberies and assaults in 2010 and those numbers are expected to nearly double for 2012. Paragould currently has a City-Data crime index rating of 465.0, well above the national average of 309.3.
Property crime statistics in Paragould are even more alarming. While the national average for burglary, theft and auto theft is at 7 for every 1,000 people, the Paragould average is 20.14.
Police Chief Stovall told citizens attending the Town Hall meeting that he did not consult an attorney before making plans to institute what he considers martial law. He also announced that task force members could stop anyone they wanted to and didn’t even need to be looking for a specific suspect on the streets.
According to Stovall, any individual who does not produce identification could be charged with obstructing a governmental operation.

Despite Dubious Evidence, Men Convicted Of Stephen Lawrence Murder Lose Appeal Bid

Stephen Lawrence
Brit Dee, Contributor

The men convicted of the murder of Stephen Lawrence have today lost their first appeal bid.

Whilst David Norris and Gary Dobson can still renew their applications before judges sitting at the appeal court, a single judge today rejected their first appeals after 'consideration of the papers'.

Norris and Dobson were given life sentences in January of 14 years and three months, and 15 years, for the racist murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence in 1993.

In a previous article we detailed how the prosecution of Gary Dobson was only possible after a fundamental change in the ancient common law of 'double jeopardy', in which an accused, once acquitted, could never be tried for the same crime again.

Dobson had already been acquitted of murder during a private prosecution brought by Stephen Lawrence's family in 1994, after a judge threw out the case due to the unreliability of a key witness's evidence.

Dobson's and Norris's convictions in January were based entirely on new forensic evidence recovered by LGC Forensics many years after the crime - despite serious concerns about the credibility of that very evidence.

A State-Sponsored Anti-Sikh ‘Hate Crime’ the Media Ignores

William Grigg
LewRockwell
Deranged ex-federal employee Michael Page, a former Army psy-ops specialist, committed what has been variously described as a “hate crime” and an act of “domestic terrorism” by murdering six people gathered for worship at a Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Since the alleged murderer is dead, we can only speculate as to his motives (and those of his reported accomplices, as well).
Officer Ben Grant assaults innocent Sikh-American Kuldip Singh Nag, March, 2007
There is little room for speculation, however, regarding to attitudes and motives of a uniformed assailant who severely beat an innocent and helpless Sikh in an incident that took place five years ago about 112 miles south of Oak Creek. The perpetrator’s motive was to steal the victim’s property, and it there was no ambiguity about the fact that he despised the victim on the basis of his perceived ethnicity.
Thankfully, the victim — Joliet, Illinois resident Kuldip Singh Nag — wasn’t shot. However, he was pepper-sprayed and severely beaten on the morning of March 11, 2007 by a police officernamed Ben Grant, who materialized on his doorstep to announce that he was going to tow away a van that was sitting immobile in Nag’s driveway because the vehicle had an expired license tag.

12-year-old tased inside Victoria's Secret (Video)

South St. Louis County (KSDK) - A police officer tased a 12-year-old girl inside a Victoria's Secret Wednesday afternoon at South County Center.

Police say the officer came into the Victoria's Secret looking for the teenager's mom, who had warrants for her arrest. But it was the teen who got tased.

"This one goes in my chest. It was stuck in there so she had to keep on pulling trying to pull it out," said Dejamon Baker, as she pointed to a small wound on her chest.

Baker has a matching wound on her stomach.

"I had fell on the floor and I couldn't control myself I just kept on shaking and stuff," said the girl.

Baker, her mother Charlene Bratton, and some other relatives were in the Victoria's Secret.

Bratton had just tried on some shorts and was about to buy them when she says a St. Louis County officer came looking for her. Bratton had warrants, she says, for numerous unresolved traffic tickets.

"He said, put your hands behind your back. I said for what. Next thing you know he tackled me down on the ground," said Bratton.

Baker said, "I was just crying. I guess he got mad because I was crying or something, then he just took it out and just tased me."

A police spokesman says the officer stated the girl was physically getting involved and would not back away, but Dejamon and her mother deny that.

"He should have had enough control to tell her to get back instead of pulling out his gun, I guess he was nervous or whatever, and tasing people," said Bratton.

The police spokesman says he believes the officer's actions were justified, but he admits it's a unique situation.

He suggests the mother report the incident to internal affairs to have in investigated.

The mother says that's what she plans to do.
