17 Krishnamurti Quotes That Will Turn Your World View Outside In

“The ability to observe without evaluating is the highest form of intelligence.” Jiddu Krishnamurti
sage is someone who can put into words the aspects of our mysterious nature that most of us can only feel.
At times in my life I have been overwhelmed by the world and confused about the purpose of it all. I spent much time in anguish, behaving in self-destructive ways, wondering why happiness was so elusive.
In this struggle, I passed many years looking outward for the source of turmoil in my world, trying to tweak, upgrade and replace parts of my life that seemed culpable for my sorrows; a different job, new friends, more education, better stuff. This always led me back, of course, to where I started, still confused, still unsatisfied, still searching for someone and something to blame.

Words are more than just the sum of their meaning, they are powerful incantations, capable of conjuring up great inspiration or of casting damning spells. Philosophy is something that can heal, yet no doctor can prescribe it and no one can predict which words a person must hear to break through to a better place in life.
The potent words of the great Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti fell into my life at precisely the right time, ringing true enough in my mind and in my heart to carry me to brighter days.

The Madness Of Helicopter Parents Versus Free Range Parents

By NLBS

Next Level BS takes a look at how helicopter parents are not just being insanely smothering of their own kids, they expect society to be overly protective of all kids, everywhere. A recent situation in Maryland, highlights the insanity, where the local police literally abducted a couple's kids, for hours and without notification, because they were simply walking home from the park, alone. "Stranger Danger" now applies to police officers, because we show why it's more dangerous for kids to be in the custody of Child Protective Services, than walking alone on a residential street.

Compelling Portraits of People Who Abandoned Civilization for Life in the Wilderness

Photographer Antoine Bruy not only traveled and lived with off-grid families for three years, but captured captivating photos of their Walden-esque existence.

Art The System

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, most people can only dream about escaping to the quiet isolation of the rural countryside. French photographer Antoine Bruy, however, turned that dream into a reality when he hitchhiked across Europe from 2010 to 2013, wandering through remote mountain regions without any fixed destination or route in mind. Along the way, he met several individuals who had willingly abandoned life in the city and retreated deep into the wilderness, sacrificing modern comforts for greater autonomy and freedom.

In his series Scrublands, Bruy documents the homes and faces of the people he encountered, by chance, who live far away from civilization. Staying with these individuals for days or even weeks at a time, the photographer helped them farm land and raise livestock while learning more about their self-sufficient lifestyles. Once teachers, students, and engineers, these people now rely on makeshift buildings, recovered materials, and agriculture in order to survive.

Homeland Security Enlists Clergy to Quell Public Unrest in Ferguson Missouri

Greater St. Mark's Church has seen a lot of cops lately and they haven't come by to pray.

As evidenced by the following video, Clergy Response Teams were deployed by Homeland Security to quell public unrest during the declared "state of emergency"in Ferguson Missouri this week.

For the third time since the police slaying of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, St. Louis County police raided the Greater St. Mark Church property Wednesday. Church leaders have allowed community activists to use the gymnasium of an abandoned private school on church property as a first aid station for treatment of people injured by tear gas in protests against the shooting of Brown. People could also get food and water there, and community activists used it to plan protest strategy.

But all that apparently made it a special target for the cops whom one would think have enough on their plates in Ferguson not to be harassing a humanitarian operation.

The Peacekeeper Vision

Communities of people who look out for each other. Neighbors and friends who help each other out when someone has an emergency, be it a robbery or just a bad fall.  Individuals who stand up for themselves and those they care about, rather than relying on a bureaucratic system to save them.
This is the vision of Peacekeeper. It’s an app, but it’s more than that. At its heart, Peacekeeper is about independence and personal empowerment.
The problem right now is that people are increasingly isolated from each other and reliant on system that either doesn’t serve them well or outright fails. There’s nothing wrong with calling 911, but relying exclusively on them is a mistake when the average emergency is over well before the centralized and bureaucratic system can send someone to help. More than that, though, relying on this sort of bureaucracy for salvation robs us of our independence.
It’s our opinion people are mostly benevolent: deep down, we have a gut instinct to care for those we’re close to. Suppressing that instinct in favor of one single solution without options doesn’t really speak to our nature or our humanity.
Peacekeeper aims to fix that.
Our vision is of tight-knit communities that look out for each other, and that embody three key values: protection, independence, and benevolence. We like to consider these our objectives as a company, and we hope the community chooses to adopt them as well.

A Christmas Message from Edward Snowden

Edward Snowden’s alternative Christmas message demanding an end to mass surveillance was broadcast at 4:15 p.m. GMT. Original post follows below the video.

British television’s Channel 4, known for broadcasting “unusual but relevant” figures’ holiday messages as opposed to the Queen of England’s annual speech, has chosen whistle-blower Edward Snowden to convey this year’s address.

Snowden, who is responsible for opening our eyes to the omnipresence of the National Security Agency’s surveillance, was recorded by filmmaker Laura Poitras in Russia where he’s been granted temporary asylum. Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald have helped Snowden leak NSA documents and are now starting a news website funded by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar.
Although Snowden’s dispatch isn’t scheduled to appear on television until Wednesday afternoon, The Guardian has collected some snippets that have been televised in advance:
In excerpts from the address released by Channel 4, Snowden says George Orwell “warned us of the danger of this kind of information” in his dystopian novel, 1984.
Snowden says: “The types of collection in the book – microphones and video cameras, TVs that watch us – are nothing compared to what we have available today. We have sensors in our pockets that track us everywhere we go. Think about what this means for the privacy of the average person.
“A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They’ll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves an unrecorded, unanalysed thought. And that’s a problem because privacy matters; privacy is what allows us to determine who we are and who we want to be.”
In the other extract of the address released, Snowden notes the political changes that have taken place since his leaked the cache documents to newspapers including the Guardian. He highlights a review of the NSA’s power that recommended it be no longer permitted to collect phone records in bulk or undermine internet security, findings endorsed in part by Barack Obama, and a federal judge’s ruling that bulk phone record collection is likely to violate the US constitution.
Snowden says: “The conversation occurring today will determine the amount of trust we can place both in the technology that surrounds us and the government that regulates it. Together we can find a better balance, end mass surveillance and remind the government that if it really wants to know how we feel, asking is always cheaper than spying.”
The whistle-blower’s message, though filmed and broadcast on another continent, comes across crystal clear, especially his words on the conversation that wouldn’t be possible today were it not for his efforts to inform society of the NSA’s unjust methods. Now, as Snowden explains, it’s our turn to effect change side by side and alter our dystopian reality.

Very interesting speech by Richard Thieme at the 19th annual DEFCON hacker conference about the good, bad, ugly, and simply "what is so" about the security state.

What if Thanksgiving Exposes the Government?

What if at every Thanksgiving liberty is weakened and the government is strengthened?

What if another Thanksgiving Day is upon us and because of the government we have less to be thankful for than we did at the last one? What if at every Thanksgiving liberty is weakened and the government is strengthened? What if Thanksgiving's warm and breezy seduction of gratitude is just the government's way of inducing us to think we should be grateful for it?

What if we don't owe the government any thanks for anything? What if the government owes us back all the freedom and property it has stolen from us? What if the government has produced nothing and owns nothing, save what it has coerced us to give it? What if the courts have ruled that the government can lie and cheat with impunity in order to acquire our property or assault our freedoms?

Ten Reasons the United States Government Must Be Abolished

When freedom answers despotism...

"Abolish the United States government?  Are you insane?!"

Not at all.  Our government was originally created from the necessity of abolishing government.  This was spelled out clearly and concisely in the Declaration of Independence, whose date -- July 4, 1776 -- is still celebrated every July 4th.  If you are not familiar with this most vital document, if you have never read the words and fully understood them, I suggest you do so now.  I have quoted from the beginning of the Declaration of Independence below, so that you might understand that abolishing government is, at times, not only necessary, but proper.
