Papers Please? St. Paul Cop Harassed Black Man Waiting For His Kids for ID, Caught on Tape

by Ed Krayewski

While voter identification laws are a hot button issue in national politics, those laws aren't usually discussed in the broader context of identification requirements in various aspects of everyday life.  For starters, border patrol agents dozens of miles away from an international border ask for identification purportedly to root out illegal immigrants. Identification is required at the doctor's office, for increasing amount of medication, at the airport, on trains and now even for some interstate bus trips, for renting a car, getting into most government buildings, and so on in that manner. A mere fifteen years ago much of this may have seemed unthinkable.
So while the debate over whether voter ID laws are effective or whether they infringe on the right to vote (which ought to be universal given citizenship, which should be based on residency and necessary and proper paperwork) continues, it misses the point that citizens and non-citizens alike who don't have identification have a harder time accessing all kinds of goods and services, government and otherwise, often due to government regulations and edicts.
This is not just an issue of taking a bus instead of flying, as former homeland security secretary Janet Napolitano once suggested for those tired of the security theater at the airport. And a bus is increasingly not an option either. In Houston Representative Barbara Jackson Lee (D) lauded the Department of Homeland Security sending TSA agents onto local buses!
Eventually it becomes about the freedom of movement at the most basic level. Witness this interaction between an officer and a man who told them he was waiting to pick up his kids from the local charter school. Note how quickly it escalates despite the man's calm demeanor, all over a demand to produce identification:
Minnesota City Pages identified the man, who spoke to them, as Chris Lollie. He was arrested for "disorderly conduct" and "obstructing the legal process," and was charged with those crimes as well as trespassing. They were, unsurprisingly, all dropped. Police insist they were dealing with an "uncooperative male refusing to leave" and said there were no complaints filed after the incident (many incidents of police brutality can go unreported), which happened in January but video of which only emerged online this month. The YouTube user who posted claims the cellphone was seized for six months (likely the length of time before charges were dropped and the "investigation" ended).

If it's a war zone out there for cops, it's the "civilians" that often seem most at risk.
Sensible rules of engagement for cops, as well as effective disciplinary processes, are needed to attempt to root out behaviors and attitudes like those of the officer's in the video.

Russell Brand on Ferguson Unrest: There’ll Be a Lot More of This as Society Becomes More Unequal

The way comedian Russell Brand sees it, the two options the society is facing, not just in Ferguson but globally, are:

“Shall we have a more equal society or shall we fortify and bolster our means for oppressing people?”

To Brand, the current “disturbances” in the Missouri town are an “inevitable” result of the years of racism and poverty that make up American history, despite certain right-wing pundits’ attempts to de-contextualize the conflict and “apply” compassion selectively to the police force and not the African-American community.

Watch as Brand continues his war against Fox News’ misinformation and provides his take on the Ferguson protests on his Web show, “The Trews.”

The Protests May Be Winding Down, But Ferguson's Fight Is Not Over

by Alice Speri

An out-of-towner driving through Ferguson, Missouri on West Florissant Avenue on Friday morning might easily have missed the signs of the protests and clashes that have dominated this stretch of suburbs for the past two weeks.

In fact, the signs are there: most stores are boarded up, with "open" signs sprayed over the wooden panels that used to be glass windows. The burnt down shell of the Quiktrip gas station — which is at once Ferguson's "Ground Zero" and its "Maidan" — is still there, surrounded by a metal fence that was not there a few days ago.

The area got brand new "I heart Ferguson" signs, planted in every courtyard and hanging from every pole, and messages of hope and love are all over town — on colored signs drawn by children, or on the boards covering up the Ferguson Market and Liquor store, the site of looting last week.

KKK Arrives In Ferguson to Support Their ‘Hero’ Cop Who Shot Brown, Hate Heats Up

by Amanda Shea

Al  Sharpton isn’t the only race baiter to descend on Ferguson to take advantage of the tangle of tear gas, tanks, and snarling police dogs — the Ku Klux Klan is seizing the opportunity to spread their hate and ignorance in this hotbed of racial tension over the shooting death of black teenager Michael Brown.

“Gaza is a graveyard,” sing joyful Israeli youths

Abu Abunimah
Electronic Intifada

In her latest post, my colleague Rania Khalek makes reference to “a new racist chant mocking the more than two hundred children slaughtered by Israel’s merciless bombing campaign in Gaza: ‘Tomorrow there’s no school in Gaza, they don’t have any children left.’”
This video shows an Israeli mob actually singing in celebration of children’s deaths in the style of a soccer fans’ song: “In Gaza there’s no studying, No children are left there, Olé, olé, olé-olé-olé.”

Note:  Although few are able to adequately express the frustration, discontent, and angst associated with the death of Trayvon Martin and the associated pain caused to those most intimately involved in the lives of Trayvon and George Zimmerman, the following video tells a story which is completely ignored by the corporate owned media.

‘Simpsons’ invents new Fox News motto: ‘#1 with racists’

The Raw Story

In the world of The Simpsons, Fox News' well-known "fair and balanced" motto has been replaced.

On Sunday's episode of the long-running cartoon series, a Fox News helicopter carrying a network executive reads, "Fox News: Not Racists, But #1 With Racists."

After the Fox News executive steps out of the helicopter into the head of the Statue of Liberty, the aircraft goes into a tailspin and crashes. The pilot can be heard saying, "It's not fair, we're unbalanced."

The executive conducts a secret meeting where his team plans a new health care scare that will send their ratings through the roof.

Gawker calls The Simpsons episode one of the most anti-Republican ever.

At one point in the episode, the likeness of former Vice President Dick Cheney laments the lack of terrorist attacks on America.

The creators of the popular television show may cause for concern. Just last week, a Fox News anchor effectively said that all Hispanics were illegal aliens.

The anchor, Trace Gallagher, claimed that a new study has shown 100,000 illegal aliens have left Arizona since the passage of a draconian new law, SB 1070, that allows police to check the immigration status of anyone they pull over.

"The way they got the numbers is they crunched them using the current US population survey and then they had numbers from the Mexican government, is what they came up with, is that 100,000 illegals have left Arizona -- there are 100,000 illegals fewer before SB 1070 was ever talked about," Gallagher said.

Only that's not what the study says. The study actually says that the immigration law in Arizona has likely provoked the voluntary departure of 100,000 Hispanics from the southern US state.

This video is from Fox's The Simpsons, broadcast Nov. 21, 2010.

As Mid-Term Election Nears, NAACP Declares Tea Party Rife with Racists

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
October 20, 2010
It appears the NAACP is drinking the SPLC and ADL kool-aid. The organization has released “Tea Party Nationalism,” a joint project with the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights. The report attempts to link the Tea Party movement to white supremacists.
“The result of this study contravenes many of the Tea Parties’ self-invented myths, particularly their supposedly sole concentration on budget deficits, taxes and the power of the federal government,” reads the report’s introduction. “Instead, this report found Tea Party ranks to be permeated with concerns about race and national identity and other so-called social issues.”
Ben Jealous, NAACP CEO, told the Huffington Post that his organization has no problem with the Tea Party movement as a whole. “We have no problem with the Tea Party existing,” he said. “We have no problem with the Tea Party expressing its views in the great debates in our great democracy. We do, however, have a problem when prominent Tea Party members who have direct ties to organizations like the Council of Conservative Citizens, are allowed to use Tea Party events to recruit people for those white supremacist groups.”
Democrats and the corporate media have long insisted the Tea Party movement is racist. On March 20, Democrats launched a misleading propaganda offensive claiming Tea Party protesters in Washington spat on Missouri Democrat Emanuel Cleaver and hurled racial epithets at members of the Congressional Black Caucus as they walked to the Capitol to cast a vote on Obama’s authoritarian health care bill. As Infowars.com reported at the time, Cleaver was not assaulted and there was no evidence of racial epithets directed at members of Congress.
Last year, the Department of Homeland Security and the Missouri Information Analysis Center authored reports claiming the patriot movement contains white supremacist elements. TheMIAC report leaked to Alex Jones claims members of a “rightwing” militia movement organized in the 1990s — generally in response to the Oklahoma City bombing and the events at Waco — “continuously exploit world events in order to increase participation in their movements. Due to the current economical and political situation, a lush environment for militia activity has been created” and supposedly exploited by “constitutionalists” and “white supremacists,” the latter an oft-employed canard used to demonize activists as dangerous and potentially violent lunatics.
The NAACP continues this process of political demonization. In July, the organization offered a resolution to its members condemning the Tea Party movement. The resolution stated that members of the movement have “displayed signs and posters intended to degrade people of color generally and President Barack Obama specifically” and added its “racist elements” are a “a threat to progress.” The “Tea Party Nationalism” report represents the next phase of a concerted effort to demonize the patriot movement.
In September, the NAACP partnered with Think Progress, Media Matters and New Left Media to launch Tea Party Tracker, a site set up to monitor “racism and other forms of extremism in the Tea Party movement.”
Think Progress is closely linked to the globalist George Soros. Media Matters for America was founded by former MoveOn consultant Tom Matzzie and Clintonite John Podesta’s Center for American Progress. CAP is linked to George Soros through Morton H. Halperin, the director of Soros’ Open Society Policy Center.
The NAACP report was created by the Kansas City-based Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights, which is funded, in part, by the Firedoll Foundation. The paper was written by Devin Burghart and Leonard Zeskind. Mr. Zeskind has made a career out of issuing clarion calls around the exaggerated threat posed by white supremacists. In June of 2009, he warned that the white nationalist organization Stormfront was planning to infiltrate and take over the Tea Party movement. According to Zeskind, a “constellation of anti-tax, anti-immigrant, and Christian right activists and Republican conservatives are gathering their forces. Expect white nationalists to put their own star in this sky. ”
As the case of Hal Turner revealed, the government largely runs the white supremacist movement. The FBI compromised the Ku Klux Klan and other racist organizations in the 1960sand has used them since to demonize the patriot and constitutionalist movements. The Southern Poverty Law Center, according to an FBI memo, was engaged in an undercover shenanigans at the white supremacist compound at Elohim City and may have played a part in the Oklahoma City bombing, long ago revealed as a false flag attack designed to usher in a raft of police state legislation proposed by the Clinton administration.
In April, we reported on attempts by those vehemently opposed to the Tea Party movement participating in the political process to sabotage Tea Party rallies and events. “With the establishment desperate to engender and exploit violence which will be used to demonize the Tea Party movement as an extremist mob, so-called anarchists are now openly declaring their intentions to pose as Tea Party members and stage violence in order to discredit populist grass roots organizations,” wrote Paul Joseph Watson.
“Law-abiding Tea Partiers are apparently being infiltrated and made to look extreme,” Andrew W. Griffin of the Oklahoma Watchdog wrote on April 15. “Growing evidence points to provocateurs that bring to mind the protests of the Vietnam War era and COINTELPRO.”
The foundation “progressives” are desperate to portray the Tea Party movement as nativst and racist, especially now as the important mid-term elections enter the home stretch. The NAACP report, penned by a man who has made a career out of exploiting a racist movement in large part controlled by the government, will fortunately be dismissed as a cynical ploy by millions of Americans determined to take back their government from the globalists and career politicians.

CNN Declares the Constitution Racist

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
September 22, 2010
In a discussion about Texas governor Rick Perry, CNN’s Rick Sanchez told Wayne Slater of the Dallas Morning News that “people of color” consider the Constitution — in particular the Tenth amendment — racist. Sanchez made his comment at 1:45 in the following video.
In essence, Sanchez said that if you believe that powers not granted to the federal government nor prohibited to the states by the Constitution are reserved to the states, you’re a racist. Sanchez’s remark is an obtuse reference to nullification, John C. Calhoun, and slavery.
In the 1840s and 1850s, the federal government tried to impose the Fugitive Slave Acts of 1793 and 1850 and school segregation through Brown v. Board of Education on the Southern states. It was argued that these measures were unconstitutional and that the states had the inherent power to prevent the federal government from enforcing them within their borders.
In response to the Alien and Sedition Acts in 1798, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison wrote the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions, which provide a classic statement in support of states’ rights. Jefferson and Madison declared the Union is a voluntary association of states, and if the federal government violates that voluntary association with unconstitutional laws the states have the right to nullify those laws. The states, they wrote, “are not united on the principle of unlimited submission to their general government” and “each party has an equal right to judge for itself, as well of infractions as of the mode and measure of redress.”
Nine states have passed resolutions reaffirming the principles of sovereignty under theConstitution and the 10th Amendment over the last year. The political opportunist Rick Perryexploited this trend last April at an anti-tax rally in Austin when he said Texans might get so fed up with the federal government they would want to leave the union. Democrats and other advocates of federal power over the states had a field day with Perry’s secession comment. “Talk of secession is an attack on our country. It can be nothing else. It is the ultimate anti-American statement,” declared Rep. Jim Dunnam of Waco.
Despite Mr. Dunnam’s contempt, a large number of Texans support the idea of states’ rights and even secession.
CNN and the corporate media have since used Perry’s comment as a lightning rod to portray constitutionalists as racist troglodytes. It is no mistake during the above clip CNN decided to show the consummate politician and opportunist Rick Perry parading around on horse back dressed in cowboy regalia. It underscores the stereotype of the white Southern massa lording over cotton field slaves. It reaffirms the racist narrative and attempts to drive people away from the sovereignty movement.
States’ rights as a not so subtle codeword for racism is now a corporate media talking point. In February, the teleprompter reader Chris Matthews at MSNBC compared Texan political candidate Debra Medina to John Calhoun after she defended the principles of interposition and nullification in response to the encroachments of the federal government.
None of this is accidental. It is imperative that the establishment attack the Constitution and the Bill of Rights if they are going to realize the globalist plan to merge our once proud constitutional republic into a world government. In addition to portraying the Constitution as a racist manifesto, they are attempting to criminalize the Tea Party and take down its political candidates.
