Libertarian Party Calls for Release of Ross Ulbricht, Says Gov't Are The Real Perps in Silk Road Case

Ross Ulbricht is an Eagle Scout with no criminal record
By Nicholas J. Sarwark

The Libertarian Party calls for dismissal of the unfounded criminal charges against alleged Silk Road founder and operator Ross Ulbricht, whose trial is set to begin tomorrow, and for the resignation of the New York prosecutors who trumped up charges against an innocent man.

Silk Road is a website that allows its users to maintain their privacy while trading goods and services by using Tor, an open network that protects anonymity, and the digital currency Bitcoin for payment.

Because the site is alleged to accommodate the buying and selling of illegal drugs, prosecutors have charged Ulbricht with a slew of crimes: narcotics trafficking, computer hacking, money laundering, engaging in a criminal enterprise, and conspiracy to traffic in fraudulent IDs.

The prosecution has failed to identify a single victim of any of the alleged offenses.

Finding Ferguson

by Paul Jacob

A week ago last Saturday, at high noon in Ferguson, Missouri, 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot dead by police officer Darren Wilson. Brown was black, Wilson is white.
Protests immediately followed, understandably; sadly, so did rioting and looting.
Not to mention dueling narratives.
Michael Brown was an unarmed kid walking to his grandmother’s house on that fateful day, and would have been on his way to college this fall. Instead, according to some accounts, Brown was gunned down in the sweltering August street in a hail of bullets. Why? No reason. It was in effect an execution by this policeman — even though Brown had his hands up and posed no threat.
It has been reported that Michael Brown’s body was left lying in the street for hours, but that he never received any medical care.
His “lynching by bullet” shows that racism is alive and well and too often administered by the police.

Arkansas Libertarian Candidate Steals the Show

Frank Gilbert, Libertarian candidate for Governor of Arkansas 'cracked up the audience at the recent debate hosted by the Arkansas Press Association in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Who wouldn't vote for Frank Gilbert for Governor? He's intelligent, responsible, down to earth and funny!

As reported by Independent Arkansas' Steve Brawner:
It’s still a tossup as to who will be the next governor, but we know who it won’t be: neither Frank Gilbert nor Josh Drake, the Libertarian and Green Party nominees.
Gilbert, the Libertarian, and Drake also know neither of them will be the next governor – not in a system dominated by Republicans and Democrats. Nevertheless, they’ve put their names on the ballot.
Here’s the shorthand for what their parties stand for. Greens are pro-environment and pro-government health care. Libertarians are for less government in both economic and social issues.
Drake and Gilbert presented their cases during an Arkansas Press Association debate July 11 – and, by the way, kudos to the APA for giving them that opportunity. Here’s what they said … Read More

Matt Drudge Breaks Up With Republicans, Joins Libertarians

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Activist Post

Matt Drudge, the founder of the enormously popular conservative news aggregator DrudgeReport.com, tweeted today that since there are no real differences between Democrats and Republicans the only two real political parties are Authoritarians and Libertarians.

"It's now Authoritarian vs Libertarian," Drudge tweeted. "Since Democrats vs. Republicans has been obliterated, no real difference between parties..."

Drudge also asks his followers why anyone would still vote Republican. "Who are they?!" he asks. "Raised taxes; marching us off to war again; approves more NSA snooping."

Is this a turning point for conservative politics? Is the Liberty Movement of peace and privacy set to be catapulted into the mainstream?

FBI Sets Up Small Pot Dealer for Access to Libertarian Political Group

Cop Block

Background:

In 2012 Rich Paul – a longtime proponent of marijuana legalization – was kidnapped and caged by employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, NH Drug Task Force, and Keene Police Department. Paul admitted to several sales of several ounces of marijuana – and sought jury nullification. He was candid because he knew he hadn’t wronged anyone. His actions had caused no victim.

Yet, as if to showcase the injustice provided by the “justice system” in 2013 Rich Paul was sentenced to 12-months in the “House of Corrections” after which he’ll have three-years of probation as well as a 1 1/2 – 3-year prison sentence suspended for six-years. With time already served and less the “good behavior” time, he should be out in early 2014.

Gary Johnson 2012: The Libertarian Revolution Will Not Be Televised

“The revolution will not be televised.”
This phrase accurately describes the libertarian movement, as it continues to penetrate the American psyche in the forms of Ron Paul and Gary Johnson. Every day, a growing segment of the population, which is young, educated, and internet native, joins the ranks of the libertarians and their allies. And every day, the regime which currently controls the United States — those inner party officials, media mouthpieces, and corporate backers — continue to lose legitimacy, support, and ultimately, control. Over the next few years, these elements will become increasingly impotent, as they lose the ideological and technological race for supremacy against a new generation of Americans who are not dependent upon systems controlled by the corporatist state.
First, the party duopoly has begun to experience trouble in the recruitment of loyal party followers. Mainstream Republicans are unable to replenish their ranks due to an overall shift in demographics, as well as their open hostility towards actual small government activists who seek involvement in the party. Democrats, while being considerably more successful than Republicans, have shown themselves to be increasingly desperate in their tactics. They have chosen to follow an Orwellian model, perpetuating a Keynesian economic cycle of poverty and dependence which, in return, makes the population more susceptible to racial, sexual, and class-based bribery. Relying on either a small aristocracy or the impoverished masses will result in failure for the parties, as the middle class – that class of tradesmen, managers, and entrepreneurs who have served as the agitators and revolutionaries of centuries past – has become aware of the movement which truly represents their socially liberal, fiscally sane views.

High Moral Principles!

Colleen McCool, Contributor

The elephants and donkeys deserve the bird! Obama and Romney have forsaken the American Dream. They hardly disagree at all on the important issues. What will they debate?

A declaration is an affirmation. Independence means self-government. They could have called The Declaration of Independence, The Affirmation of Self-Government!

Gary Johnson and Judge Jim Gray are the only choice to Save the American Dream: Self-Government, freedom from big government tyranny and oppression.... and to Restore Justice, the guardian of Liberty! The people believe in self-government and self-medication.

All who follow a code of ethics or principles are self-governors. Our system is meant to protect the self-governors from those without ethics and principles, perpetrators of fraud, rape and violence. The state does not run the affairs of people in a free society. It upholds justice between people who conduct their own affairs.

Libertarian VP Hopeful Slams Obama Over Medical Marijuana Raids

Activist Post

Visiting a Denver medical marijuana dispensary Thursday, Libertarian vice presidential nominee and retired Superior Court Judge Jim Gray urged passage of Amendment 64, the statewide initiative to regulate marijuana like alcohol that will appear on this year’s ballot.

Judge Gray was also critical of the Obama Administration’s interference in Colorado’s state-regulated medical marijuana system. Last week, the Justice Department issued letters to 10 state-legal medical marijuana facilities demanding that they shut down. Fifty-seven total businesses have now received such letters.

Judge Gray is running for vice president on the Libertarian ticket with presidential nominee and former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson. Johnson has expressed strong support for Amendment 64.

From Liberal to Libertarian: Bush, Obama and the Final Bubble

Introduction: Ideas and Change

America’s once vibrant Republic has morphed into an imperial oligarchy. The regime has weaved a new dogma preached faithfully by pundits and politicians of both parties. As that dogma crumbles in the face an impending economic collapse, the vast majority of citizens will be left in an ideological vacuum.

Palin or Obama, Fox or CNN, The Drudge Report or The Huffington Post; they simply affirm to their followers and viewers different shades of the same worldview. From within this paradigm it’s impossible to grasp the enormous manipulation and dysfunction that besets the nation. In the past there was sufficient diversity of ideas within the mainstream to offer adequate solutions for the challenges of the time. This is no longer the case.

A Liberal Democrat

Born in the late 1960s, Cold War mythology was very real. The Soviets were bad, the West was good yet the echoes of Vietnam left a crack in the armor of the ‘noble’ United States. Nonetheless, FDR saved the nation and American GI’s saved the world. Government was good, if not perfect. It protected us from Nazis, Communists as well as from the greed and ruthlessness of bankers, oil men, and dirty tricks. The Left was for civil rights, workers rights and sympathized with the plight of the poor.
