Osama bin Laden was one of the 54 children of Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden, a construction magnate who made his fortune by cozening up to the royal family of Saudi Arabia. The bin Laden family has had an intimate relationship with the upper reaches of global power politics for the past half a century.

In 1976 Salem bin Laden, Osama’s half-brother, co-founded Arbusto Energy with George W. Bush.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Pakistan has returned the wreckage of a US helicopter used in the American raid that killed Osama bin Laden early this month, a Pentagon spokesman said Tuesday.

"The wreckage of the helicopter destroyed in the bin Laden operation was returned over the weekend and is now back in the United States," Colonel Dave Lapan told AFP.

The helicopter was damaged in a hard landing at bin Laden's compound and US special forces deliberately blew it up after gunning down the Al-Qaeda leader in the May 1-2 raid, officials have said.

I’ve found myself to be quite a bit late to the Osama Bin Laden opinion party. However, maybe that’s not such a bad thing because now that it’s been a while, everyone has had a chance to take a step back and calm down -- including myself.

But if you want my opinion, I think this event was totally staged. Bin Laden was almost certainly dead already and the establishment was just saving his corpse for a future emergency to rescue the system. Why? Because their empire is crumbling apart and they are completely desperate to save themselves. I mean they “killed” him and immediately dumped his body in the ocean? Please, how gullible do they think we are? And this event wasn’t just staged to distract from the “birther” issue like the propaganda machine wants you to believe. This is a multi-faceted operation to channel support for their other illegal wars, to push us into another war with Pakistan, to boost their pathetic approval ratings, to jump start Obama’s re-election bid, and also to distract us from the crumbling economy.

However, I do think it’s incredibly hilarious that we still have a AAA rating.  How much more evidence to people need to see to realize that the game is rigged?

ISLAMABAD (AFP) - US Senator John Kerry arrived in Islamabad on Sunday for talks with Pakistani leaders at what he earlier warned was a "critical moment" for relations after the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

He landed two days after Pakistan's parliament insisted there must be no repeat of the secret commando operation that killed bin Laden and said US drone strikes targeting extremists on its territory must end.

The first senior US visitor since the Al-Qaeda kingpin's death, Kerry was to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, foreign office spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua told AFP, to discuss "bilateral relations and regional issues".

Bangkok, Thailand May 7, 2011 - The "Bin Laden" hoax is consuming our time and energy even as the global corporate-financier oligarchs flee forward cashing in on the political capital they presume they have gained by making this announcement. Even a superficial examination of mainstream media's headlines and interviews with the CIA director himself calls into question the official narrative with mind numbing contradictions and faulty logic even a child could spot.

The CIA itself is only 95% sure, based on facial recognition, that they bagged their rouge agent. A London Guardian report compounds this uncertainty stating that the CIA compared the alleged DNA of this man they claim to have shot dead in Pakistan, not with a previous sample from Osama Bin Laden, but against a Bin Laden family member. If we are to believe any of this at all, the CIA is not even saying they are 100% sure, so why should we be?

"We were never really certain about whether or not Bin Laden was there."

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The United States on Saturday released several videos seized during the Osama bin Laden raid, part of what US officials said was the largest trove of terrorism material ever collected.

A senior intelligence official told reporters the material showed bin Laden had remained a key leader in Al-Qaeda before he was killed by US commandos, and had overseen both strategy and operations from his secret compound in Pakistan.

"He was far from a figurehead, he was an active player," the official told a briefing at the Pentagon.

The large collection included digital, audio and video files, printed material, computer equipment, recording devices and handwritten documents, he said.

Just days after the staged media spectacle of the assassination of Osama Bin Laden, the corporate media and the Department of Homeland Security have released intelligence that claims that Al Qaeda is considering attacking U.S. railroads on the 10th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks.

In a move that is sure to further heighten the fears of local police nationwide, the Department of Homeland Security issued an alert to police about the information that they had “uncovered.”

“The information was obtained from material seized by Navy SEALs in their raid in Pakistan when they killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on May 1, another U.S. official said, speaking anonymously. U.S. commandos seized computer drives and other material from the compound where bin Laden had been staying,” reported The Associated Press.

Bangkok, Thailand May 5, 2011 - The immediate reaction by most across the world upon hearing of "Bin Laden's" death was that America now had the excuse it needed, real or not, to gracefully depart from its disastrous "War on Terror." However, the architects behind America's foreign military adventures over the past several decades have already begun clamoring about the need to not only expand their global war, but to implicate Pakistan as being complicit in harboring the mythological "Bin Laden."

An Offer Pakistan "Can't Refuse" 

Brookings Institution, and in particular, the policy wonks that penned the treasonous, extralegal, extraterritorial "Which Path to Persia?" report, are busy handing Pakistan "an offer it can't refuse" on the heels of this obvious hoax. One such wonk, Michael E. O'Hanlon of Brookings recently wrote, "U.S.-Pakistan: Bad Union, No Divorce" where he outlines a series of "incentives" to coax Pakistan back down the road of serving America's regional interests. Somehow, free-trade deals, the promise of reduced drone attacks, and more unsolicited aid is supposed to convince Pakistan to acquiesce to American demands in the wake of this recent, intentional frame up of their populous South Asian country.

Obama won't release bin Laden death photos: US media

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President Barack Obama has decided not to release the photos showing the body of Osama Bin Laden after he was killed by US commandos, US television networks said Wednesday.

In an interview with CBS, Obama said "he won't release post-mortem images of Osama Bin Laden taken to prove his death," the network said in a statement.

The CBS interview for its "60 Minutes" program is due to air on Sunday and comes after US commandos on Sunday stormed bin Laden's hideout in a Pakistani compound and shot him dead.

US officials who have seen the pictures taken of bin Laden's body have described them as gruesome.

There are fears that if the photos are released they could provoke anger and trigger a backlash against US personnel in the Muslim world.

Panetta: new Al-Qaeda chief will be next enemy No. 1

WASHINGTON (AFP) - While it is not yet certain who will replace Osama bin Laden to lead Al-Qaeda, CIA Director Leon Panetta said Tuesday that whoever take his place will becomes America's new public enemy number one.

Bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, is expected in some circles to take over, but it is not clear how soon that will happen and he may be more concerned for his own public safety after US special operations took out the Al-Qaeda chief in a daring raid.

"He's moving up very fast on the list," Panetta told CBS television's "Evening News with Katie Couric" in referring to Zawahiri.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House rowed back on a claim made earlier that a wife of Osama bin Laden acted as a human shield in an unsuccessful bid to save the Al-Qaeda leader's life.

Counter-terrorism official John Brennan had briefed reporters from information that was later updated as more people involved in the operation were interviewed, a senior White House official said.

Bin Laden, who was killed in a raid by US special forces, was with a woman who was wounded, while another woman was also killed in a different part of the house in crossfire, said the official.

Bangkok, Thailand May 3, 2011 - Foundation for the Defense of Democracy (FDD) scribe and all around intellectually dishonest propagandist, Bill Roggio of the "Long War Journal," has dedicated his life to perpetuating the entirely fake "War on Terror," abandoning all objectivity with the very name of his now officially government funded, Neo-Conservative establishment affiliated blog. The term "Long War" of course is a throwback to the Bush era and constant reassurances by the president that indeed the "War on Terror" will be endless.

FDD and their doppelganger organization Foreign Policy Initiative - essentially the reincarnation of the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) - were amongst the first in the wake of Obama's announcement to begin implicating Pakistan for harboring Bin Laden leading up to his death. These calls have only intensified.

Roggio's recent article, "Pakistani complicity in sheltering Osama bin Laden is evident" lays out what appears to be a convincing argument that not only was Pakistan aware of Bin Laden's presence in the city of Abbotabad, the center of Pakistan's military and intelligence community, but were complicit in providing him with sanctuary. Roggio is quick to remind readers of Pakistan's "vast links to terrorist groups."

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Former US vice president Dick Cheney congratulated President Barack Obama Monday on the killing of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by US forces in Pakistan but warned that the "war goes on."

Cheney paid tribute to American forces and intelligence services for their "tireless work" in tracking down Bin Laden since the September 11, 2001 attacks but also offered rare praise to political opponent Obama.

"The death of Osama bin Laden at the hands of American forces is a victory for the United States and a tremendous achievement for the military and intelligence professionals who carried out this important mission," he said.

When my husband was killed on the morning of 9/11, television stations around the world ran split-screen video. They showed the buildings still burning juxtaposed against young Arabs celebrating in the streets. That disturbing vision left me incredulous; it was forever emblazoned on my psyche.

Ten years later, now fully awake in the bright sunlight of the day, when I contemplate the definition of victory for our country when it comes to the death of Osama bin Laden, I can only think about the damage that has been done.

I think about the thousands of lives lost -- American, Afghani, Iraqi. I know firsthand the sorrow those families have felt. I ponder how the billions -- maybe trillions -- of dollars could have been better spent. I remain alarmed about the continued expansion of absolute Executive power in the name of fighting this seemingly ongoing and never-ending "war on terror." I worry about the further erosion of our constitutional rights. I wonder when our troops will ever be called home. I know all too well, that thousands of young American men and women soldiers will never have the opportunity to return home. And of course, I fear reprisal.
