DHS Should Focus on Criminal Activity, Not Beliefs

Last week, The Washington Post reported that for the last two years, the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) intelligence gathering and analysis unit devoted to rightwing groups and militias has been "effectively eviscerated," while reports on so-called Islamic extremism "got through without any major problems."

The article raises serious concerns about DHS's failure to address the real need for fact-based assessments of where threats to our security lie. An internal DHS study last year concluded that "a majority of the 86 major foiled and executed terrorist plots in the United States from 1999 to 2009 were unrelated to al-Qaeda and allied movements" (emphasis added) and warned, "Do not overlook other types of terrorist groups." (It doesn't get any clearer than that!)

Janet Napolitano Visits NYU Law School to Discuss Need For Citizen Spies (Video)

"We have to get to a place where every part of our society is cognizant of the kinds of threats that are out there, and empowered to take some common sense steps to counter that." -- Janet Napolitano

Homeland Security head, Janet Napolitano, continued her campus tour in a recent stop at NYU Law School where she gave a speech about the state of security as we approach the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and following the announced death of Osama bin Laden.

In the video below Napolitano lays out a sweeping surveillance agenda that includes citizen spies who have a mission of "shared responsibility" to thwart "Core" al-Qaeda, foreign groups "inspired by" al-Qaeda, as well as domestic "extremist" groups, which apparently include an increasing number of plots by U.S. citizens.  She added that "there is no single portrait" of today's potential terrorist, citing recruiting tactics "including Hip Hop videos, if you can imagine that."  And, naturally, cyberspace. Each of the four key ways that she stated as critical to Homeland Security's mission will widen the Stasi-style network of unpaid employees of the State virtually deputized to spy on their neighbor in the private and public sector and issue reports to the DHS federal security matrix.

  • Strengthen the nation's 72 fusion centers, which coordinate with local police, businesses, churches, universities and more in a cooperative effort to federalize local communities.
  •  Launch the National Terrorism Advisory System to replace the general color-coded terror alert system and set up a "base level" high risk, which will be augmented with specific messages.  One component of this new system that she does not address is that it will be directed toward the individual by utilizing a text messaging system, as well as social networks to issue government statements and warnings (or propaganda).
  • Continue the expanded use of Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR), initially used for IRS reporting and for businesses to alert government officials to large cash purchases at their establishments.  The new initiative will cover all sectors that will share back to DHS.
  • Continue expansion of a national "If You See Something, Say Something" campaign that began with the NY Metropolitan Transit Authority, and kicked off at private businesses like Wal-Mart whereby people can receive ongoing messages via telescreens in government buildings, private businesses and public areas, then report on anyone for any reason without consequence for false reports.

She also predictably suggests that the counter-terrorism apparatus is a useful tool that can save citizens in need of rescue from natural disasters.  More likely, it is the roll-out of soft martial law that will create a permanent state of fear, suspicion, false arrests, police brutality, and the end of the American republic in the same fashion that led to the end of every society that chose the path of security over freedom.

Federal Spychips To Hijack Your Phone

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
Editor's Note:  This may explain why the U.S. Federal Government expanded the Life Line program (free home phone service)  to make "free" cell phones available to all U.S. citizens who receive government benefits such as Food Stamps and Social Security.  I can only assume that the expansion of the Life Line program was a beta test.

The announcement that Americans are set to be bombarded with mandatory government propaganda via their cellphones represents a shocking lurch forward in the Obama administration’s bid to launch a total takeover of all communications as part of a wider move towards controlling the Internet, developing an omnipresent wiretap system, and creating a constant environment of suspicion and distrust by enlisting citizens to spy on each other.

Short of implanting a microchip in people’s heads, the US government has opted for the next best thing, a chip in your cellphone. But what else will these “special chips” be used for?

See Something Say Something Act Seeks To Turn USA Into East Germany

Rogue Government

The clowns in Congress continue to promote the fake terror war despite the fact that the official story of the 9/11 attacks is a total lie, and the entire war against terror is based off of an entirely false pretext.  It is also highly unlikely that any American will end up dead as a result of a terrorist attack but the promotion of fear continues.

Americans are more likely to die from disease, a car accident or any number of other circumstances than they are from a terrorist attack.  Despite all of this, we continue to see members of Congress propose bills that seek to destroy individual freedom under the guise of fighting this completely bogus terror war.  A new bill proposed by Representative Peter King (R-NY) called the See Something Say Something Act seeks to encourage Americans to spy and report information on their neighbors by ensuring that those who make such reports would be immune from lawsuits. Even if the reported claims prove to be entirely false, the accused would be unable to take action against the accuser so long as it is believed that the accusations were made in good faith and with reasonable suspicion.  This means that the true purpose of this bill is only to encourage people to be more willing to spy on and report information on their neighbors to the authorities.

The Road To Oppression Is Paved With Bad Intentions

Ansel Adams - Japanese American Internment
Rick Gedeon
Activist Post

Gerald Celente, Director of the Trends Research Institute, contends, "The police have become the enforcers for the crime bosses."

Paul Criag Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury under Reagan, recently wrote in his piece entitled Americans are Oppressed, Too where he goes on to state that:

Why are the police so aggressive toward the public?  In part because their ranks attract bullies, sociopaths and psychopaths . . . Police in the US now rival criminals, and exceed terrorists, as the greatest threat to the American public.
The current situation exceeds anything Orwell had ever conceived – it has gotten to the point where former Navy Seal and Governor, Jesse Ventura, began taking steps to sue the TSA this past January.   Ventura, a frequent flier and well-known and admired public figure, is apparently not immune from experiencing sexual humiliation at the hands of TSA agents via “Touching, Gripping & Rubbing of the [his] Genitals.”

Not even active duty military personnel are protected from the harassment.  It’s preposterous to see America’s service members pulled aside at airports and told to take off their boots while the goon squad goes over their personal belongings.  However, this is indicative of what the now infamous MIAC report dictated to its law enforcement officials in 2009.  Chuck Baldwin commented that, “The DHS report specifically warns law enforcement to be on guard against "disgruntled military veterans," especially veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. You read it right.”

The media blackout and obfuscation is deliberate and delivered to you by arrogant pundits who spin truth and construe any challenge to their synthetic reality as anti-American, treasonous, or hate speech.

In order to get a better understanding in regards to scale of magnitude and analysis of our current predicament it is imperative to look back a few years.  John Perkins gives an eloquent synopsis of the current state of affairs in his recent masterpiece Hoodwinked:

We have failed to muster the courage.  We have allowed our government to chase the shadows of terrorist across Iraq, paw though our purses and briefcases in airports searching for explosive tubes of toothpaste, desecrate our most sacred documents by imprisoning people without habeas corpus, and convince us that criticizing our president was treasonous.  We have accepted the idea that countries whose GDPs were a fraction of AIG’s losses were members of an “Evil Axis” while we have trashed laws that had protected us from rapacious financiers.  We have supported operations that scoured Colombian jungles for terrorist but neglected to search the ledgers of companies with the power to destroy our economy.
Has America turned into East Germany?  All of these intrusive and abusive overreaches from the government appear to be derived directly from the Gestapo/Stasi playbook.  How much farther down the road to self-damnation do we have to travel before we awaken from the slumber we find ourselves in?  These questions I pose to those who care to make a change -- not an empty "change you can believe in," but a genuine tangible change.  Something is definitely not right when the FBI gets caught paying a convicted felon $177,000 tax-free for 15 months to infiltrate over 75 houses of worship, and his job was to lure innocent worshipers "trying to entrap them into a mission." Not to mention that the only reason the informant,Craig Monteilh, came out and exposed this is because he claims that after the FBI was finished using his services that they tried to whack him in prison where he was stabbed.

Napolitano had the right idea when she stated that homeland security begins with hometown security.  It’s time we all took proactive steps in securing our hometowns from further government intrusion.

Attend to your local town hall meeting!  Become active, participate in a local chapter of an organization you’re interested in and, most importantly, talk to your neighbors.  Because in the end nobody really cares if Lindsay Lohan stole a $2,500 necklace.

Oklahoma's “Sniffin’ Dirt" -- Snitching on your neighbor will keep us all safe!

Marti Oakley, Contributing Writer
Activist Post

Homeland Security, that bastion of police state warriors has set up housekeeping in the once great state of Oklahoma.  Their new website “Red Dirt Ready” would be more aptly titled “Sniffin’ Dirt”.  The site, all plumped up with militant looking people, some who are, I suppose, supposed to represent first responders and medical personnel, encourages Oklahoman’s to be ready for an emergency!  Why!  You can even win yourself an emergency survival kit!  Oh!  And you can snitch on your neighbors too!

In the upper right-hand corner of the header is a “Report Activity” button.  I just had to check it out.  I quickly deduced that native Oklahomans must be somewhat dimwitted or at least Homeland Security and the FBI think they are.

The page is brief:

If you perceive an immediate threat to yourself or to public safety, please dial 911 immediately
To report suspicious activity, please contact your local police department or FBI at (405) 290-7770 in Oklahoma City and (918) 664-3300 in Tulsa.
For more information, please read the following:
How to Identify Suspicious Activity
What to Do if You Spot Suspicious Activit
Examples of Suspicious Activity
Information provided in part by  NationalTerrorAlert.com

Of course I couldn’t stop here.  I just had to see how to identify suspicious activity.  I had to because, well . . . we are all felons in the police state and lord knows I wouldn’t want to get on one of those watch lists with those 3 million or so other people who dared to speak out and who are now targeted as a “suspected domestic terrorist” by 17 or so intelligence agencies who spend their time conducting costly and unnecessary surveillance on American citizens who refuse to tow the “party” line.  Right comrade?

From the page:

Identifying suspicious activity is not a difficult science. Rely on your judgment. Your suspicion of a threat could be confirmed with only one incident or it could take a series of incidents. Your suspicions will need to be based on: Experience, Judgment and Common Sense.  (Obviously the people of Oklahoma have been deemed not to have any of these qualities)

To assist in recognizing and reporting suspicious activity, consider the following guidelines to help make an informed decision.

Under this subtitle was the usual know your neighbor stuff, and report crimes if you see them occurring.  What got my attention was this little ditty:
  • Controversial issues being debated.
______________________________________________________
Now what could that mean?  Why would the discussion of controversial issues be viewed as a threat by Homeland Security and the FBI and your local police department?  I believe it means if you hear anyone discussing non-government approved topics that include non-government approved ideas, information or comments that are not approved in an ideal police state . . . you need to report that; or you need to be reported.

Oh yeah . . . in case of a flood, fire or other disaster, give them a buzz.  They’ll see if they can help.
Since our police departments have been militarized and are now all under control of Homeland Security, and since their purpose is no longer to protect and serve but rather, to assault and attack whenever the opportunity arises, this could present a clear and present danger to the public at large.  I think we should all report them, after all, this is very suspicious activity if you ask me.

I would expand on Oklahoma’s new “Dirt Sniffin’” site.  But you get the drift.  This has nothing to do with security, crimes or anything else of that nature.  It is a snitch set up.  This is community training.  This is conditioning to get people comfortable with the idea of reporting on their neighbors; a concept repugnant to most free societies, but one very common to police states.

I have no doubt these sites will appear in each and every state especially in consideration of the new kazillion square foot spy center they are building in Utah.  Believe it or not, some people actually think that center is going to be used to track terrorists from “over there”.  It is:  over there in Arizona, over there in Texas, over there in Nevada, up there in Missouri, out there in Maine . . .  any place American citizens reside in the geographical United States.  What most people fail to grasp is, our government is in fear of us; it is the people of the US that our own government views as a threat.

As the noose on the police state tightens, we will see more snitch and report opportunities.  No doubt, staged “events” will occur to cement in the public’s mind that only YOU can prevent another terrorist attack.  Just pick up that phone and drop that dime!  Mad at your neighbor?  Hey! Just make up some story and call Homeland Security.  That’ll show’em.

As a young girl, it never once occurred to me that I would ever see the day in this country when our own government would actively recruit neighborhood snitches to report on their neighbors or friends or even family members.  I honestly believe there are few among us who would not report a crime, or who would not come forward if we actually did hear something that needed to be reported to the authorities.  As a middle-aged woman, one who has watched in disbelief as everything we thought we represented is taken from us, I have no illusions.  We are being led into the police state where even our thoughts or conversations can get us killed or imprisoned for life.

Personally, I think we should start constructing citizen surveillance centers where we can report the suspicious activity of government agents and agencies.  After all, if we are the enemy, and by all standards it appears we are, we need to know who these people are and who they work for as well as what they are doing.

We are under attack.  It isn’t someone from “over there;" it isn’t some nameless, unidentifiable, untraceable and undefined enemy.  We see these people on the news, in the papers and hear them on the radio.  We elected many of them and saw many others simply appointed to some position they were most likely not qualified to hold.  These people are the faces and voices of the police state; have they now become our enemy?

You Are The Resistance Against The DHS Occupation Of America

Paul Joseph Watson and Alex Jones
Infowars

“Resistance V’s appeared all over the country….The V campaign meant ordinary people could feel they were doing something, however symbolic, to protest against the Occupation.”
The British radio has called on people to write V for victory everywhere, and they are all over the place, even on shop fronts. They are also written on blackboards, on tables – everywhere. Even better, there’s a new badge: a V made with two crossed pins and worn on the lapel. Yvette and I counted seventy-five in five minutes!…On the Rue d’Astorg, I scribbled a V on a German car. I heard the sound of boots behind me, and moved off quickly.  The Resistance, by Matthew Cobb.
America is in peril, the United States is being occupied as Homeland Security launches a total takeover of society and attempts to indoctrinate an army of citizen spies as the country accelerates its slide into banana republic despotism. Americans who can see what is unfolding feel helpless, powerless and overawed by the clear evisceration of their freedoms. The time has come for a massive campaign of powerful, symbolic, peaceful resistance.

The Department of Homeland Security has released a trio of chilling PSA video clips in which ordinary everyday activities are characterized as signs of potential terrorism, with the public being indoctrinated to assume the role of domestic spies reporting on their friends and neighbors as America sinks deeper into a decaying police state.

DHS will no longer be limited to the airport in the form of the TSA, but will become a ubiquitous entity policing everyone through a network of citizen spies and infrastructure security technology. The agency will also assume the mantle of regulating Americans’ every behavior and activity.

In wartime France, the victims of the Nazi occupation could see who their oppressors were, in 21st century America we’re not yet being policed 24/7 by black boot wearing stormtroopers, but perhaps something even more insidious – each other. Homeland Security is training Americans to spy on their friends, neighbors and colleagues by making us obsessed with the fear of terror – using the very tactic of terrorists to chill the 1st Amendment, tear up the bill of rights, and intimidate Americans into accepting constant harassment, bag searches, body scans, interrogations, and suffocating security-theatre everywhere they go.

So why the V campaign? What is it and what will it achieve? It’s all about fighting back against the psychological warfare we are now being subjected to by our new would-be slavemasters. They like to remind us that they’re our bosses with their signs – report suspicious activity posters and video messages at Wal-Mart checkouts - terrorism tip line billboards – Homeland Security posters telling Americans where they can and can’t park their car – using symbols, slogans and messages to herd the sheep and elicit their obedience is obviously a very important component of any authoritarian regime – so why not fight back with our own symbols, slogans and messages?

The Obama Joker poster campaign attracted massive attention and was a huge success in creating an underground buzz of resistance. The V for Victory campaign is based on the same basic idea.

We need to tell them who we are and that we’re not their slaves. This in turn will encourage others to feel secure in the knowledge that there are Americans who are working to protect freedom of speech and the right to criticize government without being treated as a terrorist, and that Homeland Security’s constant hyped fearmongering about non-existent terror threats is nothing more than an act of psychological warfare to make Americans shut up, mute their dissent, and follow orders like good little children.

From VIPR teams that now patrol Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor and Los Angeles rail lines; ferries in Washington state; bus stations in Houston; and mass transit systems in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore, to invasive pat downs at bus and train terminals and on street cornersacross the country, to radiation-emitting naked body scanners that roam the highways scanning vehicles and homes, to interrogation checkpoints at sporting and other public events, Big Sis is engaged in a total takeover of society, turning America into a giant prison grid where everyone is guilty until proven innocent and treated as a potential terrorist.

Show me a case in history where the government recruiting the citizens to spy on each other led to a more secure, happy, free and prosperous society and I’ll show you a chicken with teeth. The best possible outcome, as in East Germany, was a despotic society in which free speech was silenced and political dissidents were imprisoned. The usual outcome, as in Stalinist Russia or Nazi Germany – was outright tyranny and death camps. Neither have any place in America.

Homeland Security is now trying to mimic the way of all oppressive regimes, by turning the American people against each other. Their agenda is public – DHS’ own documents clearly state that they consider libertarians, Ron Paul supporters, constitutionalists, gun owners and virtually any political activism as extremism and possible terrorism. As we have seen from a myriad of reports put out by the DHS and threat fusion centers across the country – the primary targets of Homeland Security in their campaign to have everyone treated with suspicion are people who know their rights and people who dare to exercise their freedoms.

This has nothing to do with any genuine terror threat. Americans are being coerced into living in constant fear of terror, when in reality they are more likely to die from peanut allergies, lightning strikes, or accident-causing deer than terrorist attacks.

We need to invoke the spirit of the French who were occupied by the Nazis in World War Two. The V for victory campaign in Paris and elsewhere helped the occupied to understand that the resistance against tyranny was legion. It gave the victims hope that they were not isolated and that their community was bonded in freedom, reducing fear that they would be reported to the authorities by collaborators as a subversive or terrorist for expressing dissent against their occupiers.

To encourage more people to participate in this outreach, we are incorporating it into our, “The Answer to 1984 is 1776″ campaign, and offering $7,000 dollars for the winner who posts the best video on You Tube. Second place will win $2,000, 3rd place wins $1,000. Use the V for Victory flyers we have provided to let Big Sis know that we are not her slaves. Use them on banner hangs or as stand alone flyers, post them on message boards or any places where announcements are made in your local community. Anywhere that’s legal and lawful, we want to see the V for victory proudly displayed as a symbolic message of resistance and defiance.

Click here to download all the V for Victory posters in PDF format. Pick your favorite and print them off to use as flyers, or alternatively you are free to adapt the design to your own tastes. This is a campaign that everyone who wants to put on record their opposition to this tyranny can become involved with – the added incentive of cash prizes adds the element of competition and also increases media coverage.

Remember – you are the resistance!

Never has France been engaged in a more noble or beautiful war than in the one that is fought in cellars where her free newspapers are printed, in the nocturnal terrains and secret rocky coves where she receives her free friends and from where her free children swarm out, in the torture chambers where despite the pliers, the needles reddened by fire and the broken bones, the French die as free men. Joseph Kessel, French Resistance Leader.

See Something, Say Something - Unless It’s About The Government

Mac Slavo
SHTF Plan

While Department of Homeland Security is ramping up the Nation’sSee something, say Somethingprogram, expanding into Walmarts and other venues, we warn our readers to be cautious of what you see, what you say, and to whom you say it, as evidenced by recent backlash from the government for an airline pilot’s personal exposé on airport security:
An airline pilot is being disciplined by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for posting video on YouTube pointing out what he believes are serious flaws in airport security.
The 50-year-old pilot, who lives outside Sacramento, asked that neither he nor his airline be identified. He has worked for the airline for more than a decade and was deputized by the TSA to carry a gun in the cockpit.
He is also a helicopter test pilot in the Army Reserve and flew missions for the United Nations in Macedonia.
Three days after he posted a series of six video clips recorded with a cell phone camera at San Francisco International Airport, four federal air marshals and two sheriff’s deputies arrived at his house to confiscate his federally-issued firearm. The pilot recorded that event as well…

Ahhh… so if we see something of actual importance, like say, a massive hole in our security infrastructure, then we become suspects and are stripped of our Constitutional protections of due process.

In the new America, spying on your neighbors is an accepted practice, while pointing out the deficiencies of our benevolent government is met with heavy handedness, force, the threat of arrest, and the probability of a law enforcement response under the Patriot Act’s terrorism clauses.

Once again, the powers that be have proven that See Something, Say Something is NOT about protecting the American people - it’s about controlling us.

Trash collectors to serve as eyes and ears in the street for police

Note:  Again, this is a sign that the snitch culture has arrived.  We, each of us, are enabling this fascist takeover of the U.S.  So, to all of the low- and high-level co-operatives, please realize that you are on the front lines of this: directives mean nothing, if there is no one there to take them.  These are your families being targeted as well -- Michael Edwards.

Waste Management workers are out and about when almost everyone else is not. Except someone who might be up to no good.

A former FBI agent recently trained all Waste Management drivers, helpers and technicians in Rensselaer and Albany Counties to act as a mobile community watch.

"They're on these routes every day so they're used to the normal situation so they are able to recognize a non-normal situation," explains Ken Bevis of Waste Management. Trucks are now armed with a cell phone, camera and incident reports so they'll have accurate information for police and, possibly, prosecutors.

"The drivers understand their main job is to observe and report and let authorities do their job," explains Bevis.

iPhone snitch network launched

Jason Douglass
Infowars

A new iPhone App with the misleading name ‘PatriotApp’ attempts to draw on the power of the patriot movement, turning smartphone users into a gigantic snitch network.

You might think an app with such a patriotic name might have useful functions like a pocket constitution or quotes from our forefathers. But contrary to the services one might expect, this app allows users to report any ‘suspicious’ behavior directly linking them with top government agencies.

Much like the new DHS program ‘If you see something, say something’ this app is meant to turn average citizens into a network of spies feeding information back to the federal government.

Citizen Concepts, a company formed by insiders from DHS, defines the use of such an app on their homepage:

Citizen Concepts announces the launch of PatriotAppTM, the world’s first iPhone application that empowers citizens to assist government agencies in creating safer, cleaner, and more efficient communities via social networking and mobile technology. This app was founded on the belief that citizens can provide the most sophisticated and broad network of eyes and ears necessary to prevent terrorism, crime, environmental negligence, or other malicious behavior.

Simply download, report (including pictures) and submit information to relevant government agencies, employers, or publish incident data to social network tools.

Key Features:
Integrated into Federal Agencies points of contacts
FBI
EPA
GAO
CDC
Custom integration with user employers
Fully integrated with Social Media (Facebook, Twitter)
Multiple menus and data fields
View FBI Most Wanted
Simple graphical user interface

Uses:
Enable citizens to record and communicate:
National Security, Suspicious activities, Crime
Government Waste
Environmental Crime or possible violations
White collar crime
Workplace harassment, discrimination, or other violations
Public Health concerns
PatriotApp encourages active citizen participation in the War on Terror and in protecting their families and surrounding communities.

An app like this is meant to solidify the climate of fear in which our leaders want us to exist. The threat of terrorism must be palpable in order for the ‘War on Terror’ to be justified and to validate all the extreme measures instituted in its name.
