Sen. Rand Paul Argues Against U.S. Arming Syrian Rebels on Senate Floor

Sen Rand Paul

Paul says "Here's the great irony of this...we could use the 2001 Authorization of Force that they predicate this vote on...to attack the same people we're giving the weapons to. Think about the insanity of this!"

FAIR Act Introduced to Stop Policing for Profit

Sen. Rand Paul yesterday introduced S. 2644, the FAIR (Fifth Amendment Integrity Restoration) Act, which would protect the rights of citizens and restore the Fifth Amendment's role in seizing property without due process of law.

Under current law, law enforcement agencies may take property suspected of involvement in crime without ever charging, let alone convicting, the property owner. In addition, state agencies routinely use federal asset forfeiture laws; ignoring state regulations to confiscate and receive financial proceeds from forfeited property.

The FAIR Act would change federal law and protect the rights of property owners by requiring that the government prove its case with clear and convincing evidence before forfeiting seized property. State law enforcement agencies will have to abide by state law when forfeiting seized property.

Rand Paul Introduces Amendment to Block National Biometric IDs

Activist Post

Sen. Rand Paul today announced the introduction of the Protect Our Privacy Act as amendment to the Senate's Immigration Reform Bill. This amendment would prohibit the issuance of a national identification card system. In the wake of the IRS scandal and NSA wiretapping revelations, Sen. Paul believes that his amendment is necessary to protect the privacy of all citizens.

"A National ID card violates our right to privacy by helping to consolidate data and facilitate the government in the tracking of individuals. President Ronald Reagan opposed this idea, as did President Bill Clinton. They believed, as I do, that American citizens should not be forced to carry around a National Identification Card as a condition of citizenship, because the card offends any reasonable basic concept of freedom. While identifying and documenting immigrants is necessary for proper reform, implementing a mandatory identification registry for all citizens is not," Sen. Paul said.

Rand Paul Calls of Mass Class Action Lawsuit to Supreme Court Over NSA Spying

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul took to Fox News Sunday to declare his legal opposition to the NSA's surveillance programs. "I'm going to be seeing if I can challenge this at the Supreme Court level," Paul said.

"I'm going to be asking all the internet providers and all of the phone companies: ask your customers to join me in a class action lawsuit," Paul told host Chris Wallace. "If we get ten million Americans saying we don't want our phone records looked at, then maybe someone will wake up and something will change in Washington."

Rand Paul Still Seeking "Due Process" Answers for Drone Strikes

Activist Post

This week the Department of Justice finally admitted that the U.S. has indeed killed American citizens with drones. President Obama followed up this admission with a "war on terror" policy speech.

Although Obama spoke of a less aggressive stance on drones, the administration maintains that top secret evidence and his advisers provide sufficient "due process" when targeting Americans suspected of being a terrorist for assassination.

Rand Paul (R-KY) disagrees. Appearing Sunday on ABC's "This Week" Paul said he was pleased that the president is finally addressing this issue but that he still had questions regarding due process.

"I was pleased with his words and I was pleased that he did respond to this. However, there still is a question in my mind of what he thinks due process is," Paul said.

Sen. Paul Introduces Bipartisan Audit the Fed Bill

Dees Illustration
Activist Post

Sen. Rand Paul has introduced the bipartisan Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2013. Known widely as "Audit the Fed," the bill calls to eliminate restrictions on Government Accountability Office (GAO) audits of the Federal Reserve and mandating the Fed's credit facilities, securities purchases, and quantitative easing activities would be subject to Congressional oversight.

"The Fed's operations under a cloak of secrecy have gone on too long and the American people have a right to know what the Federal Reserve is doing with our nation's money supply," Sen. Paul said. "Audit the Fed has significant bipartisan support in Congress and across the country and the time to act on this is now."

During the 112th Congress, Audit the Fed legislation (H.R. 459) passed the House of Representatives handily, 327-98.

Sen. Paul's version, S. 209, currently has 19 bipartisan co-sponsors in the Senate and companion legislation was introduced earlier this year in the House of Representatives and currently has over 100 co-sponsors.

US senators seek to force Libya vote

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Two senators concerned about US military strikes on Libya warned Friday they aimed to force a vote on whether President Barack Obama has the authority to wage war without congressional approval.

"We believe the answer is that he does not," Republican Senators Rand Paul and Mike Lee said in a letter to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Paul and Lee said they would block legislation pending in the Senate until Reid schedules a debate and vote on a resolution offered by Paul that states Obama "does not have the power to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve an actual or imminent threat to the nation."

Another Insurgent Candidate Takes on the Establishment in KY

Candidate for Kentucky Governorship drawing comparisons to Ron and Rand Paul.  He's an advocate for liberty who homeschools his children and supports industrial hemp.

KY Governor candidate Phil Moffett and family
Eric Blair
Activist Post

Kentucky stepped into the national spotlight when the state’s voters stunned the establishment by electing Rand Paul to the US Senate. His opponent was the anointed golden boy, backed and endorsed by senate powerbroker Mitch McConnell and neo-con kingpin Dick Cheney. Kentuckians, angry at the abuses of the establishment, stood up for liberty and Paul won by a landslide.

Now that we're in the political off-season, not many people are paying attention to the Gubernatorial race in Kentucky -- but maybe they should be.  In the Commonwealth of Kentucky, an attractive anti-establishment candidate, Phil Moffett, is looking to independent-minded voters to help make him governor.  Liberty activists, who understand that genuine change can only happen in local politics, are energized to pounce on the off-season opportunity to leave the establishment in awe of people power once again.

Phil is a full-blown liberty advocate, not a neo-con, not a RINO, not a politician, and not a lawyer. He’s a successful entrepreneur, a libertarian conservative, married to his wife Christi for 14 years with four home-schooled children at the Moffett homestead. The urge to compare Phil favorably to the Drs. Paul is irresistible. All are soft-spoken, smart, articulate spokesmen for limited government and the virtues of state sovereignty, responsibility, and individual liberty.

Moffett is taking on the tyrannical establishment by exemplifying the politics of liberty. The foundation of his platform is state sovereignty as he aims to hold the Feds at the state line. The words “nullification” and “10th amendment” pepper his speeches. He’s a strong advocate for legalizing industrial hemp and for doing away with the nightmare maze of state taxes. He proposes to eliminate hundreds of hidden state levies with a single, open and honest sales tax.

As a successful businessman, he seems to be more qualified to make the commonwealth a competitive, productive state that naturally attracts job-creating enterprises than career politicians or lawyers. He understands that difficult choices will have to be made if Kentucky's economy is to turn the corner. As his establishment contenders promise more of the same, Moffett appears poised to shake things up.

As a homeschooling parent, Moffett supports increasing school choices in order to challenge the Federal government's near monopoly on education.  His policies will not only make Kentucky’s schools more user-friendly and competitive, but get them to actually start teaching students how to think critically again.

There are only three U.S. governor’s races in 2011 and all eyes are again on Kentucky. Phil Moffett is taking on an establishment, machine-backed RINO just as Rand Paul did last year. Phil’s campaign is another chance to show the country that the freedom movement is here to stay.

There are liberty-minded activists all across this country looking forward to the 2012 elections, but who may not know there is a candidate that needs support right now. If Moffett is to beat his entrenched career-politician opponent, he needs our grassroots support.  Get to know Phil Moffett and get active.

A second win for liberty in Kentucky can fuel the fire for 2012 grassroots liberty candidates across the United States. Help feed that flame! Visit Phil Moffett's website today and share in solidarity for freedom.

Rand Paul: Thought Crime USA

Infowars.com
November 16, 2010

In this exclusive never-before-seen interview with new United States Senator for Kentucky Rand Paul, the son of Congressman Ron Paul warns that Americans are being politically profiled for thought crimes, while the Obama administration, in particular people like Rahm Emanuel, is seeking to exploit crises in order to advance the big government agenda.

Paul pledges to support or introduce legislation that forces lawmakers to read legislation before it can be passed, flying in the face of ludicrous statements from the likes of Nancy Pelosi, who once stated, “We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it.” Paul also outlines his mission to reduce the national deficit and balance the budget, reduce the size of big government, and put a halt to the insane money-printing policies of the Federal Reserve, which have recently sparked a global backlash and a new currency war.
Senator Paul says that there is a growing unease across America, not just in the liberty movement, but amongst ordinary people he speaks with everyday, that America is in terminal decline, with its manufacturing and monetary foundations being rapidly eroded as our leaders tell us glibly that the answer is to go shopping and get in more debt. Auditing the Fed is a primary concern that Rand shares with his father Ron, along with abolishing many of its powers if not jettisoning the private institution altogether.
Paul also warns that political profiling is also in full swing, with Americans being profiled not for the color of their skin, but for the “color of their thoughts,” with those who believe in the Constitution being smeared as dangerous extremists. Paul makes reference to the infamous MIAC report out of Missouri that implied Ron Paul and Bob Barr supporters were potential terrorists.

Rand Paul Victory Sends Fed Critic to Senate

Getty Image
Phil Izzo
Wall Street Journal

Republican Rand Paul’s victory means that Kentucky will continue to send an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve to the Senate.

Retiring Sen. Jim Bunning, who Paul succeeds, has been the chief Fed critic in the U.S. Senate. Not only did he vote against the reconfirmation of Ben Bernanke earlier this year, but he was also the sole “no” vote in the Senate Banking Committee during the Fed chairman’s first confirmation. Bunning could also always be counted on to spend his seven minutes during Bernanke’s semiannual testimony to the Banking Committee attacking the Fed.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that Paul will take Bunning’s spot on the Senate Banking Committee. But judging from his interest in the Fed, it seems likely that Paul will seek a spot on the influential panel.

Conway Coverup: Rand Paul Opponent Involved in Obstruction of Justice

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
October 27, 2010
Forget the corporate media dust-up over a Rand Paul supporter attacking a MoveOn.org activist. That incident pales in comparison to a story about the brother of Paul’s opponent in the race for Kentucky’s Senate seat, Jack Conway.
obamalights.jpg
Jack Conway and his supporters are involved in a cover-up and an attempt to obstruct justice, but this does not seem to be on the corporate media’s radar screen.
On Saturday, the Louisville Courier-Journal published a story about Conway’s brother, Matthew, who resigned from the Jefferson County, Kentucky, attorney’s office to enter private practice after he was tipped off by Louisville narcotics detectives twice in the past two years that he was under investigation for possible drug use or trafficking. Matthew C. Conway was an assistant commonwealth’s attorney, a position he still holds, when detectives tipped him off on a second drug-related investigation.
In a clear case of preferential treatment and a cover-up to protect Jack Conway, the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office decided in August that no charges would be filed against Matthew Conway or the narcotics detectives involved in tipping him off.
In addition, Jack Conway became involved in criminal behavior. According to R. G. Dunlap of the Louisville Courier-Journal, the Conway brothers conferred with an attorney about the investigation. “The lawyer, Bart Adams of Louisville, then met with Police Chief Robert White to discuss [narcotics detective] Carthan’s conduct, according to the records,” writes Dunlap.
Commonwealth’s Attorney David Stengel told the newspaper that he had reviewed all of the evidence gathered by police and was convinced that Conway was neither a drug user nor trafficker. Stengel told the newspaper that he concluded that Conway had done nothing wrong except to make a “well-intended but boneheaded statement” when he denied to police that he had been tipped off by narcotics detectives. Stengel said he decided not to discipline Conway for lying because “he went back and corrected that immediately,” in other words he was allowed to change his story.
Stengel accepted Conway’s “corrected account four days later, and after another witness advised him that he had told investigators a different story.”
Stengel is hardly a neutral party. In fact, he is a Jack Conway supporter. “According to Fec.gov, Mr. David Stengel has donated $500 to Jack Conway’s campaign in the past,” writes CapitalistBanner.com. “Do we really want a former Jack Conway donor overlooking this?” Or more pt the point, engaging in a cover-up as Jack Conway attempts to beat Rand Paul and become the next senator from Kentucky.
Louisville attorney Scott Roby is also as Conway supporter. Roby told Matthew Conway that the cops were investigating him for either drug use or trafficking, thus allowing him to avoid a police raid. LMPD Detective Scott Wilson had told Roby about the investigation. Conway and Wilson both attended St. Xavier High School at about the same time and are longtime acquaintances, according to the newspaper.
Scott Roby donated $1250 to the Conway campaign.
But it gets worse. It turns out that a Jack Conway supporter, businessman Charles Alexander, was the man who overheard cops talking about the Matthew Conway case in a downtown Louisville restaurant. The narcotics detectives described Matthew Conway as “dirty” (corrupt).  Alexander called Jack Conway and informed him of the overheard conversation.
“According to Fec.gov, Charles Alexander is a $2400 donor to Jack Conway and a $4600 donor to Barack Obama, so there is little doubt Mr. Alexander was concerned about the troubling allegations,” notes CapitalistBanner.com.
Jack Conway and his supporters are involved in a cover-up and an attempt to obstruct justice, but this does not seem to be on the corporate media’s radar screen. Instead, we are harangued with absurd stories about Rand Paul, Aqua Buddha, and a fraternity prank invented by an anonymous woman.
Jack Conway is involved in a brazen attempt to cover-up a police investigation of his brother. Supporters of his political campaign facilitated obscuration of justice. Is this the sort of man the people of Kentucky want representing them in Washington?
In the name of objective journalism and fairness, the corporate media needs to cover this story immediately instead of inventing new ways to tear down the Rand Paul campaign.

White House Media Whores Caught In Rand Paul “Stomping” Cover-Up

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
October 26, 2010
The establishment media and the George Soros-funded White House press whores Media Matters and Think Progress are raging about how a Rand Paul supporter stomped on a female MoveOn activist following last night’s Paul-Conway debate in Lexington, while covering up the fact that a female Rand Paul activist was also the victim of a stomping metered out by a Conway supporter just moments before.
An Associated Press video of the incident seems to go to great lengths to slow down the stomping in order to increase shock value, while conveniently failing to capture on film an almost identical incident moments before where a female Rand Paul supporter had her bandaged foot sliced open by a Conway fan who stomped her in a similar fashion.
Lauren Valle, a liberal MoveOn activist, attempted to create a confrontation by moving towards Paul after the debate, only to be restrained by Rand Paul fans. The video shows one of them push his foot down on the woman’s upper back in a stomping motion. Other Rand Paul activists try to discourage the man from hurting the woman.
The Rand Paul supporter who assaulted the woman is clearly a thug and should be criminally charged, but the establishment media and the George Soros-funded blogs have hastily exploited this unfortunate incident in an effort to prop up the flailing political campaign of Democrat Jack Conway, by attempting to demonize Rand Paul supporters as a mob of angry brownshirts.
For some reason, they don’t seem as keen to report on allegations of criminal money being behind the Conway campaign, a far bigger scandal, neither have they bothered to highlight an almost identical situation which occurred last night where a Conway supporter stomped on a Rand Paul activist before the Rand Paul supporter did the same to Valle.
As the leftist blogs rage about the actions of the Rand Paul supporter, the Kentucky Post was one of barely a handful of publications to acknowledge that a Conway supporter assaulted a Rand Paul fan in precisely the same manner.
“The second occurred after a Conway supporter stepped on the foot of a female Rand supporter, who recently had foot surgery, according to police,” states the report.
“The woman was wearing a surgical boot, but after the injury, her incision was cut open. Police say she refused medical treatment and also filed an assault report.”
Think Progress, the website bankrolled by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, a think tank headed by Bill Clinton’s former chief of staff John D. Podesta, who was also head of Barack Obama’s presidential transition team after the 2008 election, failed to mention that a Rand Paul activist was also stomped on by a Conway fan last night.
It’s unsurprising that Think Progress would run a cover-up for Democrat establishment candidate Conway, given the fact that Center for American Progress director Jennifer Palmieri admits that the goal of the organization is focused around “driving the White House’s message and agenda.”
Neither does it come as a shock that Media Matters, who recently received a $1 million contribution from billionaire globalist Soros, would also fail to mention the Conway supporter’s stomp in the course of their coverage of the story. Media Matters is tied at the hip with Think Progress as part of Podesta’s Progressive Media propaganda campaign, described as a “war room for promoting the foreign and domestic policies of Barack Obama.” Podesta also helped found Media Matters.
While being owned by organizations whose goal it is to ‘promote the policies of Barack Obama’ and ‘drive the White House’s message and agenda’, both Think Progress and Media Matters ludicrously claim to be “non-partisan,” which is like suggesting that Karl Rove is non-partisan towards the Republican Party.
Media Matters and Think Progress are transparently nothing more than press whores for the Obama White House. That’s why their baseless smears against Alex Jones and others are written by anonymous cowards who refuse to even put their name to their stories.
After months of endless contrived smears against Rand Paul that failed miserably, leftist Obamanoids were probably licking their lips when the “stomping” story emerged this morning. But now it has emerged that a Rand Paul supporter was the victim of an identical stomping, the scandal has blown up in their face.
Lefitist publications like the Huffington Post, Media Matters and Think Progress have once again been exposed in their pathetic attempts to manufacture fake controversies to score political propaganda points, just as liberals were left red-faced after a Conway supporter attempted to pose as a racist Rand Paul fan in an underhanded and pathetic ploy to discredit the Kentucky Senatorial candidate.
The Conway incident was by no means the only example of Obamanoid thugs attacking Tea Party activists for daring to go against the Democrat borg. Indeed, there have been innumerable cases of leftists viciously assaulting conservatives, most of which have been caught on video, but the establishment media just isn’t interested.
That’s because you can’t sell a fearmongering campaign about the rise of the angry right and how critics of Obama are racist extremists intent on violence when the only racist extremists carrying out violence are all leftist Obama supporters.
Earlier this year, A group of local citizens in North Carolina protesting the Financial Reform bill and the Durbin BP Bailout amendment were approached by a man who disagreed with them that Obama was to blame.
After the small gathering of protesters chanted “no more bailouts,” the man began to argue with the group about who was to blame for the financial collapse.
The man then appears to push away another man holding a video camera before putting his hands on the other man’s wife.
“Hey don’t touch my wife, you got it?,” says the cameraman as the clip cuts to another video camera from a different angle which shows the pro-Obama thug wrestling with and then slamming the cameraman with a vicious punch to the face.
When the pro-Obama thug is asked to remain at the scene because the police want to talk to him, he states, “you get your camera, you shove it up your ass”. He then threatens the cameraman with violence again saying, “If you don’t fuck around, you’ll get hurt”. The man is subsequently seen standing near a police car but it is unclear whether any action was taken.
Watch the clip.
Over the course of the past year, we have documented numerous instances of pro-Obama thugs committing violence against Tea Party activists or anti-bailout protesters. While the establishment media constantly invokes violence in its demonization of anti-Obama protesters, there has barely been a single tangible example of this, indeed, last night’s stomping incident was the first, and yet anti-Obama thugs commit violence on a routine basis safe in the knowledge that the corporate media will never report on it.
During an August 2009 demonstration in Mehville, Missouri, Obamacare opponents were locked out of a town hall meeting before Union thugs viciously attacked patriot and Tea Party activist Kenneth Gladney, who was handing out Gadsden flags outside the stage-managed event, while hurling racist insults. According to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews. the Gadsden flag is part of the extremist paraphernalia of dangerous anti-Obama right-wingers, and yet it was Gladney who was attacked by pro-Obama thugs merely for handing them out.
“Kenneth was attacked on the evening of August 6, 2009 at Rep. Russ Carnahan’s town hall meeting in South St. Louis County,” wrote Gladney’s attorney, David B. Brown, in an email sent to Infowars. “Kenneth was approached by an SEIU representative as Kenneth was handing out ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flags to other conservatives. The SEIU representative demanded to know why a black man was handing out these flags. The SEIU member used a racial slur against Kenneth, then punched him in the face. Kenneth fell to the ground. Another SEIU member yelled racial epithets at Kenneth as he kicked him in the head and back. Kenneth was also brutally attacked by one other male SEIU member and an unidentified woman. The three men were clearly SEIU members, as they were wearing T-shirts with the SEIU logo.”
The video clip below shows the aftermath of the attack.
Brown characterized the attack on Gladney, who was hospitalized with multiple injuries, as “a truly senseless hate crime,” (Gladney is black) but you wouldn’t have heard the Huffington Post, Media Matters, or Think Progress talking about it, because it wasn’t carried out by Tea Party members, it was an attack by pro-Obamacare thugs furious at people for using their free speech to express opinions which differed to their own.
Elston McCowan, 47, of St. Louis, and Perry Molens, 50, of De Soto, were each later charged with assaulting Gladney.
But it doesn’t end there – here’s another example of Tea Party members being attacked by extreme pro-Obama leftists.
During a November 2009 immigration enforcement rally, A.N.S.W.E.R.-hired thugs attacked 62-year-old Dave Caulkett of Floridians for Immigration Enforcement, pummeling him with their signs and kicking him in the face as other A.N.S.W.E.R. goons cheered.
Watch the clip below.
Before the event, A.N.S.W.E.R. Florida had sent out an email to their members calling for a “militant confrontation with the so-called “tea baggers.”
“Beating back these forces will require us to organize together, take the streets, fight the racists wherever they show their faces and drive them out of every community,” stated the email.
As this blog points out, “As can also be clearly seen on the video, A.N.S.W.E.R. organizers set their thugs loose on the two men and stood by until they heard police coming. Then they stopped their members and repositioned them to make it look like nothing happened. This was an orchestrated attack designed to make people fearful of protesting against their agenda.”
Huffington Post, Media Matters, Think Progress and the rest of the Soros/White House mouthpieces need to think twice before attempting to generate contrived scandals about Rand Paul, because every time they launch another smear, it routinely backfires and only has the effect of increasing support for the Kentucky candidate.
Supporters of Paul’s campaign should welcome the efforts of the Soros borg media, because collectively they’ve been so vehemently discredited that being attacked by them is fast turning into some kind of badge of honor which denotes the trustworthiness and genuine threat posed to the establishment by genuine Tea Party candidates like Rand Paul.
