Why is Big Food Promoting Death on Their Packages?

By Truthstream Media

It was bad enough when it was just nutritionally void, genetically modified, and filled with dangerous additives and other excitotoxic and potentially carcinogenic chemicals... but now we're literally going to shape our food like little Satan heads and label it "demons" too?

Are we that utterly disconnected?

WHY are we allowing this to be done to us? Why are we doing it to ourselves?

Christina Aguilera Praises Unschooler Musician "There's No Teaching What You Do"

Sawyer Fredericks - Source
Eric Blair

Producers of NBC's The Voice present him as a "shy farm boy," but 15-year-old Sawyer Fredericks' unique folk sound may be aided by something else. He is unschooled.

Sawyer's father runs the Facebook page The Unschool Dad described as "A radical unschooling dad of 5 sharing our journey!"

Although the show never mentions this fact, Christina Aquilera, a judge on the show, made a comment following Fredericks' successful performance in the second round of the show that sort of proves the point of unschooling.

After performing a Creedence Clearwater Revival cover "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" as a duet with a fellow contestant, Sawyer received high praise from all the judges with Aguilera telling him "There's no teaching what you do."

Mr. and Mrs. Consumer, Do You Ever Feel That Things Are Out of Control?

By Truthstream Media

All of this useless and potentially dangerous crap is absurd. Some things just go too far... consumerism went too far a long time ago.

Compelling Portraits of People Who Abandoned Civilization for Life in the Wilderness

Photographer Antoine Bruy not only traveled and lived with off-grid families for three years, but captured captivating photos of their Walden-esque existence.

Art The System

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, most people can only dream about escaping to the quiet isolation of the rural countryside. French photographer Antoine Bruy, however, turned that dream into a reality when he hitchhiked across Europe from 2010 to 2013, wandering through remote mountain regions without any fixed destination or route in mind. Along the way, he met several individuals who had willingly abandoned life in the city and retreated deep into the wilderness, sacrificing modern comforts for greater autonomy and freedom.

In his series Scrublands, Bruy documents the homes and faces of the people he encountered, by chance, who live far away from civilization. Staying with these individuals for days or even weeks at a time, the photographer helped them farm land and raise livestock while learning more about their self-sufficient lifestyles. Once teachers, students, and engineers, these people now rely on makeshift buildings, recovered materials, and agriculture in order to survive.

The Full Moon in Aries – The Cosmic Gateway

Just when you thought the frequencies could not be more intense, we come across an energy pattern like this. It all comes down to this moment in which the reflections of the past and visions of the future are twined together in perfect synchronicity. We stand at an evolutionary gateway, overwhelmed with excitement yet anxious as the unknown approaches us.
Will you trust the universe and fall into the abyss? Will you follow your instincts and remember your connection to your inner vibration?
It is time to make a shift! It is time, once again, to raise the frequency of our consciousness.Transformation, transcendence and transmutation are available to us right now. It is time to step boldly into the new without holding onto the past.
Here are the planetary alignments helping us along the way…

Mercury Retrograde

Time for reflection.
Helping us along the way is Mercury (the conscious mind) in retrograde motion. The cycle of Mercury retrograde happens four times every year.
The spiritual intuitive function of the mercurial cycles are of taking a time out from the busyness of the outside world and retreating inwardly and reflecting. With reflection comes hindsight and with that comes a sense of moving into a new direction. Mercury has been in Scorpio since the 27th of September. It began its retrograde motion on the 4th of October and will continue to move back into Libra.
So what is happening here?
There will be very clear messages (Mercury) which will be linked with the past, and will reflect aspects of ourselves which we need to confront and let go of. I am not going to lie, this can bring loss. Scorpio (transmutation) is the state of consciousness that reflects the act of letting go. With Scorpio we learn the lesson of life and how painful it can be. We can also be met with feelings of abandonment and betrayal.
This vibration that Scorpio is bringing up will be heavy and can feel overbearing at times. However we all have the choice to be open to the emotional experience, and practice being heart-centered during this time. Then, when Mercury moves into Libra, we will get the opportunity to practice listening and being there for one another. Opening up our hearts and feeling the connection of love between us. Offering peace and harmony and allowing the feeling of acceptance to be felt.

Awakened Warriors Arise

Life is a struggle. How much more then is the spiritual life, the fight to remain conscious in an illusory world where deviant forces vie for control more than caring, battering your very body and soul day in and day out on top of your struggle to survive . Oh, we’re going peacefully downstream in the conscious dimensions. There we learn to let go and follow the flow of the Universe and synchronicity. But in this physical, lower density world, we’re fighting directly upstream.
In addition, we’re living in a time of increasingly turbulent waters. Our kayaks hit all kinds of eddies and crosscurrents, never mind the rocks and rapids we have to navigate–all while idiots, enemies and doubters, prodded on by the propaganda whores, are screaming obscenities from the shore and trying to hit us with anything they can get their hands on!But alas, grasshoppers—we have powers they know not of!

What Happens To Our Body After Drinking Coca-Cola?

Have you ever wondered what exactly Coca Cola is?

After 10 minutes: The sugar contained in a glass of Cola can cause a devastating “strike” on the body. The cause being the phosphoric acid which inhibits the action of sugar.

After 20 minutes: A leap in insulin levels in bloodstream occurs.

After 40 minutes: Ingestion of caffeine is finally completed. The eye’s pupils are expanding. Blood pressure rises because the liver disposes more sugar into the bloodstream. The adenosine receptors become blocked thereby preventing drowsiness.

After 45 minutes: The body raises production of the dopamine hormone, which stimulates the brain pleasure center. Similar to the reaction Heroin creates.

After 1 hour: Phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in the gastrointestinal tract, which supercharges metabolism. The release of calcium through urine takes place.

After more than 1 hour: Diuretic effects of the drink enters in “the game”. The calcium, magnesium and zinc are removed out of the body, which are a part of our bones, as well as sodium. At this time we can become irritable or subdued. The whole quantity of water, contained in a coca cola, is removed through urination.

The 5 Things I Learned When I Fell Down a Ravine

You can learn a lot falling down the side of a mountain, stunt-woman style, but honestly, I don’t recommend it. I’d suggest that you read books and articles instead, as it is far less painful and traumatic.

Last week, my daughter and I went hiking with my good friend, Tess Pennington of Ready Nutrition, and her family. It was a nice sunny afternoon and we were going to hike a short way down off the main trail to the river to go tubing with the kids. As someone who writes about preparedness it is a little embarrassing to admit this, but because this was intended to be just a step up from a leisurely stroll, we weren’t as prepared as we should have been for a major traumatic accident.

Our first aid supplies were uselessly sitting a mile away in the van when our walk turned into an unfortunate scene from an action-adventure movie...

Do You Know the Path of the Peaceful Warrior?

Do "peace" and "warrior" go together? Is there an easier way to learn, thrive and have peace even during circumstances we don't like? Is there an easier way to affect politically active change?

Seeking nothing but a peaceful heart sounds "woo-woo" and others may use force to get their points across, but there is a way to have both inner calm and a warrior's spirit.

What would be a peaceful warrior's catalyst for change? What is the one thing you need to do every day and six words that can alter your life forever? It's a practice of Everything; a talent for living.

In late May, Dan Millman gave this talk at TEDx about the peaceful warrior's way. It is a great short summation of that way, which was laid out in his semi-autobiographical book Way of the Peaceful Warrior.

39 Fantastic Prepping Tips

Gaye Levy

People often ask where my ideas and where my knowledge comes from. When that happens, I chuckle a bit to myself because just like the person asking, my knowledge comes from a variety of sources: first hand experience, books, online forums and of course, Backdoor Survival readers. So you see, it is not that I am smarter or more clever than everyone else but rather that I have taken my passion for preparedness and made it an active part of my life.

That leads me to the topic for today’s article. Following my own article on Five Minute Prepping Projects, I asked readers to submit their own tips – namely something that we all can do to prep that takes 10 minutes or less. There were some really good suggestions and so I thought I would share some of them here so that everyone can learn from them.

Survival Basics: How to Build a Fire in a Rocket Stove

There comes a time when every prepper will say enough with all of the food and enough with all of the gear. Preparing a survival pantry, first aid kit and bug-out-bag are all important tasks but at some point we need to take a break from gathering stuff and move on to some of the basic skills needed to to insure our comfort in an emergency situation.

One of those skills is the ability to cook food outdoors. Sure, we all know how to fire up the barbie and grill burgers. But what if the backyard barbeque was not available?

If that happens, you are going to want to be ready to act. Like flipping a switch, you will want to immediately call up some basic outdoor skills that will help you get on with the business of cooking (and eating) until things, such as they are, return to normal.

This includes building a fire so that you can cook your food. A simple thing, yes, but important none-the less.''

4 Prepping Lessons Learned Following a Near Disaster

Before the smoke got really bad
Gaye Levy

Living in the Pacific Northwest, you become accustomed to the occasional earthquake. I still remember the earthquake of 1964 as well as the big Nisqually quake of 2001. I especially remember that there was a lot of destruction during the 2001 quake, and that our neighbor’s house slid off its foundation.

There is no way to anticipate these sudden, unexpected events. But we can do our best to prepare for them not only as individuals and as families, but as communities as well.

Here in my own small community, we experienced our own unexpected event on Wednesday morning when an 85’ yacht at our marina burst into flames. For those of you not familiar with boats and marinas, let me explain the danger.

First of all, boats these days are made of fiberglass. When burned, fiberglass produces heavy toxic fumes and smoke – lots of it. Then there is the matter of fuel. Typically, diesel fuel is flammable but not explosive. On the other hand, gasoline is both highly flammable and explosive. In this case, the burning yacht was adjacent to a fuel dock where both diesel and gasoline are pumped to visiting vessels...

5 Uncommon Skills That Will Be Useful After the SHTF

Gaye Levy

I believe that community will be important in a post-SHTF society.

It is also my belief that each member of a community will need to contribute in one way or another to the group as a whole. It is easy to think of those contributions as something physical that you can touch and feel such as food, medical supplies, fuel, firearms, ammunition and cash. The problem, of course, is that depending on economic circumstances and logistics, even experienced preppers may have very little extra in the way of tangible assets to contribute to the community as a whole.

Today I would like to move beyond the need for Prepper’s to have physical and monetary assets. Instead, I would like to suggest five uncommon skills that will be needed by every post-SHTF community. These are skills that do not take a lot of money to learn and yet they will be extremely valuable and in high demand if the SHTF. These are skills you may not have thought about, but important skills none-the less.

Dorm Room Preppers: The Next Generation of Survivalism

Daisy Luther

It’s an exciting time, preparing for your child to leave the nest. Your young adult is enthusiastically anticipating the independence that is so near, but you, as a parent, are most likely running scenarios in your head of all of the mishaps that could befall your son or daughter.

As a prepper, you want your child to also be prepared for any crisis that might occur when they are out on their own. My lovely eldest daughter has just graduated from high school, and we put together a dorm-room preparedness kit for her college apartment. Following, you can see the list of supplies that we have assembled. Different climates will, of course, require different types of preparedness items.

Food and water

If there is a long term power outage, you want to be sure that your student stays fed and hydrated until you can get them home.
