America is a Republic, Not a Democracy

Last week marked the conclusion of the grand taxpayer funded spectacles known as the national party conventions. It is perhaps very telling that while $18 million in tax dollars was granted to each party for these lavish ordeals, an additional $50 million each was needed for security in anticipation of the inevitable protests at each event. This amounts to a total of $136 million in taxpayer funds for strictly partisan activities - a drop in the bucket relative to our disastrous fiscal situation, but disgraceful nonetheless. Parties should fund their own parties, not the taxpayer.

At these conventions, leaders determined, or pretended to determine, who they wished to govern the nation for the next four years amidst inevitable, endless exaltations of democracy. Yet we are not a democracy. In fact, the founding fathers found the concept of democracy very dangerous.

Introduction: Ideas and Change

America’s once vibrant Republic has morphed into an imperial oligarchy. The regime has weaved a new dogma preached faithfully by pundits and politicians of both parties. As that dogma crumbles in the face an impending economic collapse, the vast majority of citizens will be left in an ideological vacuum.

Palin or Obama, Fox or CNN, The Drudge Report or The Huffington Post; they simply affirm to their followers and viewers different shades of the same worldview. From within this paradigm it’s impossible to grasp the enormous manipulation and dysfunction that besets the nation. In the past there was sufficient diversity of ideas within the mainstream to offer adequate solutions for the challenges of the time. This is no longer the case.

A Liberal Democrat

Born in the late 1960s, Cold War mythology was very real. The Soviets were bad, the West was good yet the echoes of Vietnam left a crack in the armor of the ‘noble’ United States. Nonetheless, FDR saved the nation and American GI’s saved the world. Government was good, if not perfect. It protected us from Nazis, Communists as well as from the greed and ruthlessness of bankers, oil men, and dirty tricks. The Left was for civil rights, workers rights and sympathized with the plight of the poor.

Much of the coverage, about the tragic killings in Tucson, Arizona centers upon the deranged shooter, Jared Loughner. What is gradually coming out about this strange gunman is now very different from the initial reporting.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford makes a miraculous recovery. Christina Taylor Green is laid to rest, as are Dorothy Morris, Phyllis Schneck, Dorwin Stoddard and Gabriel Zimmerman. Their families mourn this needless loss and the county grieves. So far, the lack of reporting about the full circumstances regarding Judge John Roll adds to the uncertainty. Was it mere coincidence that he was one of the slain on this same fateful day?

This question begs an answer. All sincere individuals with a good heart need to call for a comprehensive and independent investigation. Heretofore, the political class seems determined to use the opportunity to push their own sick and distorted agenda upon a bereaved nation.

Even the liberal press, like the Star Ledgerasks. What about the rest of us?

In response to the Tucson rampage, Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) says he will introduce legislation making it illegal to carry a firearm within 1,000 feet of certain government officials, including members of Congress.

The State Column reports, "New Jersey U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg says he plans to introduce legislation aimed at limiting access to extended magazine clips similar to those used in an attempt to assassinate Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords". The most fanatical of all jumps on the opportunity to push her personal agenda. "Rep. Carolyn McCarthy’s (D-N.Y.) bill also goes further than the assault weapon ban that expired in 2004, outlawing the sale or transfer of clips that hold more than ten rounds, even those obtained before the law takes effect, according to a copy of the bill obtained by POLITICO". 

What these bi-partisan demigods are saying is that you must surrender your 2nd Amendment Rights, because government officials fear the masses more than what little respect they have for the Bill of Rights

Yet the most outrageous and offensive proposal comes from Rep. Robert Brady, D-Pennsylvania.CNN states Brady "will introduce legislation making it a federal crime for a person to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a Member of Congress or federal official". All of history illustrates the formation of Praetorian Guards for leaders of regimes.

Nevertheless, what is different in the Brady initiative is the tacit admission that the populace is the enemy of the state and that all federal officials no longer need to conduct themselves as public servants. The physical safety of elected officials is better served, if their own conduct fosters a legal system of civil liberties and a social culture that adopts the sanity of all life. 

Murder is always a crime. Banning language that is perceived as threatening is about as absurd as a government official telling you they are here to help you. Folks, the Jared Loughner slaughter have all the signs of a false flag operation, designed to further the next stage of a police state.

Senile New York Congresswoman Louise Slaughter exemplifies her disrespect for the First Amendment:

Frankly what I would like to see if we can all get together on both sides of the isle. Democrats and Republicans to and really talk about what we can do to cool down the country. Part of it has to be what they are hearing over the airwaves

When will the elite and privileged class of criminal career politicians face the reality that the reason for national outrage stems from the determined policies and organizational systems that the government enacts to destroy the essence of America?


Jack Hunter, in this Southern Avenger video is spot on.

After 9/11, the federal government created a vast national security state the likes of which we’ve never seen in American history. Today, the Department of Homeland Security employs nearly a quarter million federal workers and is the largest government bureaucracy after the Pentagon and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Post-9/11, so-called security measures were hastily enacted by Congress or new powers assumed by the president that gave the federal government unprecedented abilities to keep tabs on citizens. Still, this monstrous federal bureaucracy was not able to prevent a man from boarding an airplane and attempting to detonate an "underwear bomb" on December 25, 2009. It was private citizens who stopped this would-be terrorist.

Gordon Clemmer writes in the examiner.com, further cited by Mr. Hunter.

Twenty-four year old Joe Zamudio quietly stood at the Safeway counter waiting to buy a pack of cigarettes as shots rang out in Tucson Arizona Saturday. As most followed their natural instinct to run to safety, Zamudio put his hand on his gun and ran towards the chaos. Zamudio was not an off-duty police officer nor did he possess military training, he was merely an Arizona resident who was legally carrying a concealed weapon who believed he could stop the carnage.

The response of Mr. Zamudio is that of a responsible citizen.

Contrast this behavior with the national police enforcement bureau. Better, know as the FBI. Paul Joseph Watson writes in Prison Planet.

An Ozark man who ran a blog last year critical of Republican Congressman Billy Long was shocked to see an FBI agent turn up on his doorstep asking questions. The agent was accompanied by Green County Sheriff Jim Arnott, who had stepped outside of his jurisdiction to become involved in this act of political repression directed against Clay Bowler, a resident of Christian County.

The FBI agent wanted to know if Bowler was a threat to Long because he had used an Internet blog to highlight claims of cronyism and corruption involving the Congressman before the southwest Missouri election in November, in which Long defeated Democrat Scott Eckersley to replace outgoing Rep. Roy Blunt.

The most heated confrontation Bowler had with Long was when he asked him a question about political donations Long had made. The video clip of the incident shows Bowler calmly asking Long a question as the Congressman walks away. He ran a website called "Long is wrong" in an attempt to prevent Long from being elected last year. The website has since been discontinued and Bowler hasn’t had any contact with Long since September.

This is the fate that ordinary voters will endure when opposing entrenched politicians. What is really going on with this new push to silence government opposition? Again, another liberal oriented, online source Raw Story provides the answer.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) has introduced a little-noticed bill that intends to once again renew controversial provisions of the Bush administration's USA Patriot Act that are due to expire this year.

Genuine conservatives foremost are advocates of civil liberties. Attacks on publically elected officials are deplorable but are unavoidable, especially when the political system is in melt down mode. Real problems mostly ignored build frustration. Verbal criticism is not only protected speech but is a necessary duty of all citizens. Governments fabricate a crisis to provide a false justification for their next draconian assault on the rights of offended citizens.

A Neocon like Glenn Beck is pushing a nonviolence pledge. Three of the items are:

• I denounce anyone, from the Left, the Right or middle, who believes physical violence is the answer to whatever they feel is wrong with our country.

• I denounce those who wish to tear down our system and rebuild it in their own image, whatever that image may be.

• I denounce those from the Left, the Right or middle that sees violence as a viable alternative to our long established system of change made within the constraints of our constitutional Republic.

While the principle of nonviolence is a core element that is wholly compatible with a moral society, the strict application of Beck’s foolish diatribe would forbid the honorable underpinnings of the 1776 American Revolution. Political conflict is inevitable with any governmental order. Any measure adopted that furthers the despotism of the state is a far greater risk than the hazard of becoming a target of a mind controlled mad man. In the end who is the maddest of all lunatics, other than the architects of the police state.

Do you really think a serious investigation into the lone gunman theory would benefit the elites, when the dastardly deed served the purpose of further criminalizing those, who dissent or resist the oppression of the federal behemoth? How long will it be before a special agent of the FBI makes a visit to test your loyalty oath? The fascists are making another end run around your natural rights under the guise of the rule of law. When Free Speech is construed as a crime, the threat to federal officials will intensify even more. Then ask the Beck fifth column worshipers what did you do when the constitutional Republic died?
