Another Domino Falls: UK’s Leading Scientific Body Retreats on Climate Change
It’s the latest in a series of high-profile set-backs suffered by global warming theorists- the UK’s leading scientific body has decided to rewrite its own definitive guide on climate change, now admitting that it is “not known” how much warmer the planet will become.
The Royal Society has released a new guide which outlines a retreat from its former vanguard stance on the threat of climate change and man-made global warming. The decision to update their scientific guide came after 43 of its members complained that the previous versions failed to take into account the opinion of climate change sceptics.
The new guide, entitled ‘Climate change: a summary of the science’, concedes that there are now major ‘uncertainties’ regarding the once sacred ‘scientific consensus’ behind man-made global warming theory, admitting that not only is it impossible to know for sure how the Earth’s climate will change in the future but it cannot possibly know what the effects may be. The 19-page guide states clearly, ’It is not possible to determine exactly how much the Earth will warm or exactly how the climate will change in the future, but careful estimates of potential changes and associated uncertainties have been made”.
The guide continues stating, “There is currently insufficient understanding of the enhanced melting and retreat of the ice sheets on Greenland and West Antarctica to predict exactly how much the rate of sea level rise will increase above that observed in the past century for a given temperature increase”.
In a Sept 20, 2010 article published on the UK Daily Mail, Professor Anthony Kelly, academic advisor to Britain’s Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) explains, ”The previous guidance was discouraging debate rather than encouraging it among knowledgeable people. The new guidance is clearer and a very much better document”.
The decision to revise and tone down its alarmist position on climate change demonstrates a clear u-turn on its previous 2007 climate pamphlet, one which is said to have caused an internal rebellion by the 43 fellows of the Society, triggering a review and subsequent revision. The 2007 publication, which parroted the IPCC’s popular, but misleading impression that the ‘science is settled’ – make way for the new guide which accepts that important questions remain open and uncertainties unresolved. “The Royal Society now also agrees (with us) that the warming trend of the 1980s and 90s has come to a halt in the last 10 years,” said Dr Benny Peiser, the Director of GWPF.
Economic realities and a marked shift in public opinion since last year’s Climategate scandal and failure of the much-hyped UN Copenhagen Summit have triggered a series of falling dominos within the climate change and anthropogenic global warming (AGW) orthodoxy. The Royal Society’s shift also follows last week’s blow to the radical climatist agenda within Britain, where the new Coalition Government announced it will be slashing its Climate Change Department’s budget and folding the former free-standing bureaucracy into the Treasury department.

Some analysts also believe that the Society’s new guide does not go far enough. Dr David Whitehouse, the science editor of the GWPF said: “The biggest failing of the new guide is that it dismisses temperature data prior to 1850 as limited and leaves it at that. It would cast a whole new light on today’s warming if the Medieval Warm Period, the Roman Warm Period and the Bronze Age Warm Period were as warm as today, possibility even warmer than today. A thorough discussion of the growing empirical evidence for the global existence of the Medieval Warm Period and its implications would have been a valuable addition to the new report.”
In addition, this retreat by the Royal Society signals a very real trend in climate science circles where political activism is slowly being replaced by a more sober assessment of the scientific evidence and ongoing climate debates.
The Political Fallout
To date, the political activist engine powering climate change has been anchored by an elite circle of scientists, foundations, green journalists, carbon financiers- and politicians looking for a good cause. The fuel for this engine has been supplied by short-term economic opportunities, most of which has been in the form of massive research grants, subsidies and feed-in tariffs (triggering a rise in energy costs to the consumer) by the State and confederate bodies like the UN and the European Union. In the US, problems with climate change inspired instruments like Cap and Trade are more chronic, where North America’s sole carbon trading market, the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), has recently been scaled down following a decline in investment and the near complete collapse in carbon emission prices.
As formerly obedient IPCC scientists and insiders gradually break ranks and defect over to the common sense camp, and foundations like the Royal Society reverse their policies on the nature of the climate threat, politicians may lose the once reliable traction they enjoyed when promoting their various green agendas.
This is followed, of course, by the economic reality of any democracy whereby taxpayers cannot really back departments, much less policies, that do not deliver a measured benefit to the public welfare. If the IPCC’s elite chamber of scientists cannot be trusted to objectively measure past global temperatures (actual UN data sets show that there has been no temperature increase since circa 1998), then it goes without saying that politicians cannot build real-world policy catering for a crisis that is not actually happening. The rising tide of scepticism and the reemergence of real scientific analysis will surely spell an end to the innumerable faith-based policies and guesswork forecasting that has plagued the climate change movement to date.
As science gradually makes its way back into line with reality and real world observation, it follows that many of the climate bureaucracies erected since 2000 will stumble as a result. The reason for this phenomenon is spelled out in the basic laws of ‘political physics’; a collapse of the so-called “scientific consensus” comes into direct conflict with one of the main tenets of politics- plausible deniability. When politicians can no longer use scientists as scapegoats, as in “it’s not our fault, they told us CO2 was heating up the planet…”, then the political agenda is all but dead.
The reality curve is certainly catching up to climate change now.

Climate Action Kit Complete with Religious Symbolism

I consider myself to be a pretty economical and sensible guy when it comes to taking care of the world around me. I buy mostly pre-owned or electronic books, recycle when I can, and donate my old clothes and electronics to be enjoyed by others. What I have a hard time understanding is why so many people overlook the blatantly obvious symbolism behind much of the supposed climate change propaganda in the world today. While climate change belief is being pushed more and more as a religious movement, it’s no surprise that materials are being produced to appeal to someone’s theological ideals in an effort to convert them to believers. After all, a religiously fanatical climate activist is more likely to accept taxes on breathing if it comes with a promise of saving the planet.
While browsing through my local used book store yesterday, I came across a book titled ACME Action Plan
. It caught my eye because of the nostalgic style cover and prominent display in the store. On the lower right-hand corner of the cover was the phrase, “From Provokateur ‘Mischief makes good!’” The term provocateur (correctly spelled) is often used to describe an agent hired to incite individuals to do something unethical or unlawful in order to change the opinion of the public.

On the lower right-hand corner of the cover was the phrase, “From Provokateur ‘Mischief makes good!’” The term provocateur (correctly spelled) is often used to describe an agent hired to incite individuals to do something unethical or unlawful in order to change the opinion of the public.
Upon opening the book, you’re met with an explanation of who is behind it. It states, “It’s not a charity or government initiative and there’s no motivating wristband or celebrity endorsement.” The book was first printed in Great Britain in 2008 and is distributed through the official ACME Climate Action website and Amazon.
While scanning through the pages it isn’t hard to find some startling religious symbolism, comparing a compact fluorescent light set in a lamp adorned with “reduce, reuse, recycle” phrasing to a holy awakening. This scene takes place on a mock stained-glass window featuring two worshipers praying to the faint glow of the fluorescent light. This is, of course, ignoring the fact that CFLs have been linked to UV radiation and health problems, not to mention amounts of mercury that seep out in to landfills. In contrast, an LED based light might make a safer and more eco-friendly alternative.
The next page is made up like a board game describing the 7 steps of climate action. In the center of the board game is an image made to look like Buddha sitting between two windmills at the end of a winding path. This is clearly a reference to Buddhism’s Noble Eightfold Path, a fundamental part of Buddhist teachings. On the bottom of the game board is the statement, “From baby steps to grand strides, as your boots get bigger your carbon footprint gets smaller: The Way of Happiness is light in carbon.”
This book is full of postcards, flyers, bookmarks, and even cut-out pyramids aimed at turning the reader in to a mini climate cop citing those around them for their various climate crimes. One item in particular is an intergenerational report card encouraging you to test your family and friends on their eco-friendliness. You can send “troublesome politicians” an angry action letter or postcard as well as send out recruiting materials to convince others to help police their own neighborhoods.
Perhaps the oddest throw to religious iconography comes from the commercial promoting the book. A reference is made to ancient Egyptian pyramids built to honor the pharaohs which were thought of as living gods. The purpose behind bringing this obscure reference up in a commercial about climate action is worthy of a raised eyebrow or two.
ACME Climate Action is intended to encourage people to act on the supposed climate change crisis threatening our way of life. This book is intended to be taken apart and used to report, recruit and reintroduce the idea of climate change to as many people as possible. No matter what your stance or belief is in regard to global warming, the religious symbolism comparing light bulbs to holy revelations, recycling to commemorating Egyptian gods, and drinking tap water to enlightenment should at least cause even the most uneducated reader to question the motives behind this propaganda.

Global Tax Scam Shifts From Climate Change To Poverty

As the science behind global warming becomes increasingly discredited and its proponents are exposed as eugenics-obsessed control freaks who care only about destroying freedom, the effort to make Americans pay a global tax has shifted from the justification of climate change to that of poverty.
As we documented on Sunday, leaders from 60 nations will be meeting at the UN this week to push a tax on world financial transactions, formally launching a massive program to bankrupt the middle class and enrich the coffers of global government.
Separately, the leaders of Spain and France are also now calling for new “financing sources” with which to build the infrastructure of a one world government. Remember, this has nothing to do with poverty. As the leaked Danish text revealed, global institutions such as the IMF and the World Bank have no intention of handing the money looted from American taxpayers to poorer countries, they will merely continue to keep the third world in bondage with crippling loans while withholding the real wealth for themselves.
“We need to make more effort to look for alternative financing sources … that aren’t as vulnerable as the budgets of developed countries when faced with crises like the one we’re seeing today,” said Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
“Both he and French President Nicolas Sarkozy called for some form of financial tax to raise money to combat poverty, an idea already rejected by the International Monetary Fund and many Group of 20 major developed and developing nations,” reports Reuters.
Although climate change still gets a token mention in the call for a global tax, the justification of poverty has firmly overtaken it as the primary ruse via which globalists plan to conduct a massive transfer of wealth – not to poor nations – but to their own back pockets.
As the recently leaked UN blueprint revealed, the elite are determined to use a global tax as just one of the weapons in their arsenal to dismantle the middle class of richer nations.
In their own words, the globalists talk of their aim to “limit and redirect the aspirations for a better life of rising middle classes around the world,” in other words to reduce the standard of living for the middle classes in Western Europe and America.
As the opening session paper puts it: “The real challenge comes from the exponential growth of the global consumerist society driven by ever higher aspirations of the upper and middle layers in rich countries as well as the expanding demand of emerging middle-class in developing countries. Our true ambition should be therefore creating incentives for the profound transformation of attitudes and consumption styles.”
This is globalist talk for dismantling the middle classes by looting them with global taxes and consumption levies in the name of alleviating poverty in poorer areas of the world and stopping climate change. However, as we have already explained, this is merely a ruse. The money will not be “redistributed” to the poor, it will be swallowed up by the same globalist institutions running the scam.
To achieve their goal, the UN will have to oversee “nothing less than a fundamental transformation of the global economy,” states the report. In other words, economic growth will wither and be replaced by a “green economy” and a “post-industrial revolution.”
Since Spain’s “fundamental transformation” of its economy over to a “green economy” has devastated the country, with unemployment hitting a crippling 20 per cent, it’s unsurprising that Zapatero is now calling for a new global levy on financial transactions in an effort to force already destitute Americans to pick up the tab for the failed and economically crippling “green” measures that he inflicted on his own country while doing the bidding of his globalist masters.

Europeans Push Global Tax to Fund Poverty-Reduction, Climate Change Causes

A group of 60 nations will meet next week at the United Nations to push for a tax on foreign currency transactions as a way to generate revenue to meet global poverty-reduction goals, including “climate change” mitigation.
Spearheaded by European Union countries, the so-called “innovative financing” proposal envisages a tax of 0.005 percent (five cents per $1,000), which experts estimate could produce more than $30 billion a year worldwide for priority causes.
World leaders are scheduled to hold a Sept. 21-23 summit at U.N. headquarters to review progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), eight specific targets to cut poverty and disease by 2015, in line with a pledge taken by U.N. member states in 2000.
The Leading Group on Innovative Financing for Development, comprising 60 countries – the United States is not a member – as well as 15 international institutions and several dozen non-governmental organizations (NGOs), sees the event as a crucial opportunity to promote the tax proposal, and it will meet on the summit sidelines next Tuesday.
“With the [MDG] deadline now five years away, we must be both clear and realistic as regards the mixed results of the progress achieved and the scale of the challenges to be met by 2015 and strongly optimistic in the international community’s ability to work together to achieve the MDGs,” the Leading Group on Innovative Financing for Development (LGFD) said in a statement.
The summit “is a great opportunity to develop the current and potential role of innovative financing for development in the achievement of the MDGs and make the entire international community aware of the Leading Group’s recommendations.”
