This New Libertarian Micronation Might Just Be Crazy Enough to Work

Joshua Krause

When Czech politician and libertarian activist Vít Jedlička decided to create a micronation in the Balkans, he never had any intention of succeeding. It was merely a political stunt designed to bring media attention to his political party and beliefs. However, after receiving 20,000 requests for citizenship in less than a week, he is now taking the idea seriously.

It started a little bit like a protest. But now it’s really turning out to be a real project with real support.
This proposed nation, which has since dubbed “Liberland,” would be situated along the border of Croatia and Serbia, and is less than 3 square miles in size. Taxes would be voluntary, and there would be no military. He is hoping to draft a constitution that would be inspired by the Swiss government. Just about anyone can apply for citizenship, so long as they don’t have any Nazi, Communist, or otherwise extremist past.

What is Wealth? Part 1: The Lure of the Hamster Wheel

Susan Boskey

"The first wealth is health." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Spinning on the hamster wheel of progress, burdened by the stress of over-commitment, debt, sleeplessness, and concerns about the future, we soldier on the best we can. Such is the commonly told back-story of modern life. Who knew the price of gaining the supposed good things in life would ultimately come at the cost of spiritual, emotional, mental, and/or physical well-being? The thought of stepping off the wheel may be scary, but for those who sincerely want to take back their life, tangible steps abound to help them regain priceless quality of life.

The Reengineering of Life – and How to Prevent It

Julian Rose

What do atmospheric aerosol geoengineering, the genetic engineering of foods and the reordering of the human genome – have in common?

They are all part of an attempt to alter the fundamental building blocks of life and to put in their place an artificial substitute that is one hundred percent subject to the will of its owner-controllers.

Clearly these owner-controllers fully believe their personal vision of 'the perfect life' to be greatly superior to any other. But no megalomaniac knows that he is a megalomaniac, so unless physically removed from their position of influence – much damage can be expected to result.

Many of us today puzzle over the weird, surreal even, diversion that life appears to have taken to have allowed such anti-life authoritarian figureheads to gain any traction at all on this planet. Not just to espouse their insane visions, but to actually garner enough support to set them in motion.

Does their gaining such a substantial command over the workings of society expose a fundamental weakness at the core of human kind? A subconscious predilection to close the eyes and brain to that which lies beyond immediate domestic and self-interested concern?

The ''Cataclysmic Conflict'' Yet to Come - And What We Can Do To Stop It

Tony Cartalucci

Corporate-financier interests driving US foreign policy have long ago conspired to use Al Qaeda and other sectarian extremist forces to create a Pan-Arabian mercenary force with which to fight their enemies. Warned about in 2007 in a prophetic 9-page report by veteran journalist, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Seymour Hersh, then exposed through documented evidence over the course of the past four years, and now incontrovertibly unfolding before the world's eyes, this criminal conspiracy against world peace and all of humanity can be seen in its full, horrific form.

The war special interests in the United States along with its co-conspirators plan to wage across the planet encompasses not only the Middle East and North Africa, but also Russia, China, and beyond. It threatens the lives, peace, and prosperity of all on Earth. If it is not exposed, and the special interests driving it not undermined, uprooted, and purged from humanity, none will escape the dark days that inevitably lie ahead.

Paradise Stolen - The Myth of Efficiency

Part 1 of this series was a warning to children about a world that was stolen from them. It offered a stark condemnation to adults who continue to ignore the reality of the wicked ways in which government has used their money, both donated and extorted.

Part 2, below, suggests that the innate practicality of small, sustainable communities is a solution to the massive mismanagement by a government dedicated solely to a megacorporate/banker/war economy. Our modern economic system is actually not one built upon efficiency, as it is often believed to be; it is a system of massive inefficiency and predation, which has directly resulted in the bankrupt and war-ravaged world we see around us.

Big Pharma Dangles Life and Death Over Patients' Heads

Breakthroughs in gene therapy mean a single shot could cure you ... permanently ... but for a price.

Tony Cartalucci

Gene therapy involves identifying and replacing faulty or missing genes, or engineering augmentations for existing genes to permanently cure a wide number of conditions and illnesses ranging from cancer and diabetes, to regenerative processes like rebuilding hearts or storing sight and hearing.

A breakthrough clinical trial in 2012 saw several patients stricken with incurable leukemia put into permanent remission using gene therapy. The actual process of creating re-engineered cells taken from a patient and reintroducing them costs approximately $15,000, and such procedures are still in the experimental phase. While this cost does not include the required intensive care required to bring a patient from the brink of death back into full health, it is likely the costs in the near future will be drastically lower than current and far less effective cancer treatments are today.

The transformative power of this new technology spells the end of big pharmaceutical monopolies who wallow in billions in profits year to year, enabling them to continue dominating modern medical practice through the skewing of regulatory bodies, the stacking of academic studies, and even the expansive, global bribery of doctors and other medical practitioners to push big pharma's products.

As gene therapy enters into mainstream medicine, big pharma has attempted to control it.

Why the Free and Open Internet Is Never Going to Die

Joshua Krause

It appears that the Internet's Wild West days are coming to an end, much to the chagrin of pretty much everyone who uses it. Last week, the FEC announced their desire to regulate websites like Drudge, and President Obama called for the government to rein in the Internet, and regulate it like a utility. Obviously, these developments have the potential to destroy everything that makes the Internet great.

The masses have spent the last 15 years ditching television, radio, and newspapers, and turning to the Internet for their news, because it offers an almost infinite number of opinions. Meanwhile, the mainstream media continues to wallow in lies and propaganda, as they pump a steady stream of bland and sterile entertainment into our homes. If the government has its way, in 20 years your computer will become nothing more than a television with a million channels. How novel?

The NSA’s Latest Attempt to Hack Your Computer ... And What You Can Do To Stop It

Ted Baumann

Sometimes I wonder just how bad the news about government spying can get. The answer was in my inbox this morning. I quickly ran out of superlatives: Awful. Terrible. Appalling. Dreadful.

The article in question reported that for most of the last two decades, the National Security Agency (NSA) has been deliberately infecting the “firmware” that runs most common hard drives, including those made by Seagate, Western Digital, IBM, Toshiba, Samsung and Maxtor.

There’s a 99% chance that the computer you’re using has one of those in it. Mine has four.

The malware campaign, called “Equation,” has infected tens of thousands of public and private computers in more than 30 countries. And it allows the NSA to read everything on those machines at will.

Unless you’ve done one simple thing to thwart them…

How to Reclaim Liberty Once Lost

Runaway Slave

Note: Substitute your state for Kentucky. It's all the same struggle.

Can we reclaim liberty? Is it even possible, so far down the road? John Adams said, “Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” We must act as though he were wrong.

What can we do? Clearly voting does not matter. Even with Congress’ abysmal approval rating, the same derelicts are re-elected time after time. While we were sleeping, they changed the rules to favor themselves. We can’t stop them at the voting booth unless we all rise as one and they know it.

Why would they stop on their own? They have all the power and access to all the money. They either stole individual liberty by introducing bills that undermined the Constitution, or they allowed it to be stolen by not reading the bills and not objecting if they did.

We Are Entering An Era Of Shattered Illusions

Brandon Smith

The structure of history is held together by two essential and distinct kinds of links, two moments in time to which no one is immune: moments of epiphany, and moments of catastrophe. Sometimes, both elements intermingle at the birth of a singular epoch. Men often awaken to understanding in the midst of great crisis; and, invariably, great crises can erupt when men awaken. These are the moments when social gravity vanishes, when the kinetic glue of normalcy melts away, and we begin to see the true foundations of our world, if a foundation exists at all.

Catastrophe occurs when too many people refuse to accept that around us always are two universes at work. There is the cold, hard reality that underlies everything. And on the surface is a veil of deceit and compromise. The more humanity compromises vital truths in order to enjoy the comfort of illusions, the more mind-shattering it will be when those illusions fall away. These two worlds can coexist only for short periods of time, and they will always and eventually collide. There is no other possible outcome.

I think it could be said that the more polarized our realities become, the more explosive and disastrous the reaction will be when the separation is removed. I feel it absolutely necessary to relate this danger because today humanity is living so historically far from the bedrock of reality, political reality, social reality and economic reality that the stage has been set for a kind of full-spectrum destabilization that has never been seen before.

"Climate March" Hides Real Culprits and Real Solutions

Climate march is silly at best - dangerously counterproductive at worst.

Tony Cartalucci

Big business and the big political parties and politicians they own have converged in what is being disingenuously called the "People's Climate March."  MSNBC would report in an article titled, "The largest climate march in history kicks off in New York," that:

They’re calling it the largest mobilization against climate change in the history of the planet. On Sunday morning, protesters from all over the United States and the world are converging on Manhattan to demand that global leaders take action to avert catastrophic climate change. Earlier this week Bill McKibben, founder of the environmental group 350.org, projected that the march would consist of “hundreds of thousands” of participants.
Not surprisingly little in terms of actual solutions are mentioned by the organizers and instead the march is meant to set the stage for political and financial deals to be made at the 2015 Climate Change Conference in Paris, France. Organizing the march are institutions funded by the very governments and corporate-financier special interests that have helped create devastating environmental and socioeconomic disasters across the planet over the past several decades in the first place.

Makers: Escaping the Pull of Big-Business

Image: Make, vol 40
Tony Cartalucci

A popular magazine that should probably be more popular is Make. While this is always subject to change in the future, for the time being, it is actually a magazine that empowers rather than manipulates like its competitors on the news stands. While Popular Mechanics may at one time in the distant past have actually helped people learn more about the world around them and enabled them to change it - it has become more of a clearing house for covert Fortune 500 propaganda amid a torrent of overt advertisements.

Co-Opting, Tainting the Maker Movement

Perhaps understanding the power of the emerging maker-movement and the fact that an entire segment of the population is moving beyond helpless dependency on the Fortune 500, Popular Mechanics, as well as the special interests it represents, has attempted to co-opt it. Its latest issue with its cover story titled, "The Makers," features many of the prominent personalities within the maker movement. It also, however, features at least two picked straight from big business - including representatives from Autodesk who helped lead the charge for SOPA/ACTA as well as war profiteer General Electric.

Top 10 Greatest Problems Humanity Currently Faces

Bernie Suarez

There are many issues currently threatening humanity. Here are some of the most critical issues that come to mind. Issues that humanity must figure out if it is to survive the current fight against the controlling class. Perhaps at some point we will figure it all out.

Changes never happen overnight; and, as a whole, most Americans hopefully do have a few things in common. Surely one of the solutions is to look for what we all have in common and see how we can all work together to improve things. Coming together on wider platforms is also a key to moving forward.

Here are the top issues and potential solutions.

Why Is Independence So Frightening To Some People?

Brandon Smith

In past articles I have examined the nature of power and division in our society and have always come to the same conclusion, that there are only two types of people: the people who want control over others and the people who just want to be left alone. However, there are also subgroups that swim within the boundaries of each end of the spectrum. Often, psychologists and self-help gurus attempt to promote the idea that the defining quality of the average person’s life is whether he is a follower or a leader. I have seen this spectrum applied to every political and social organization.

Ironically, I have heard so-called “leftists” argue that the nature of their ideology makes them more adept at leadership and that conservatives are more prone to become followers (ostensibly because conservatives tend to be more religious). I have heard the same argument from people on the so-called “right,” only in reverse. The problem is that very few people in our society understand anymore what it actually means to be a leader. Most Americans today are followers, whether they know it or not.  And sadly, followers tend to also seek out control over other people, if only to make up for the lack of control they feel in their own lives.  That is to say, most followers tend to pursue petty opportunities for leadership.

The Big Blackout: Why I’m Going Low-Tech to Prep for an EMP

Daisy Luther

This might be stating the obvious, but in the event of an EMP, things will not be the same, no matter how great your generator is.

Aaron Dykes of Truthstream Media wrote an excellent article about the extreme likelihood of a catastrophic event that could take out our power grid:

Billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Singer is warning investors – and more broadly, lawmakers and leaders – about the potential destructive power of an electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, which could be triggered by solar events or artificially, via blasts in the atmosphere.
According to Singer, research shows that no other incident, including a nuclear bomb, has the potential for such wide-scale devastation, coupled with the relative likelihood of occurring. While a nuke would primarily impact on the location of a such (such a city), an EMP could occur globally or across large-scale regions, wreaking havoc on the entire electric grid and devices…

Seizing Control of Our Destinies

Julian Rose

In 1381, at a time of great repression for the British agricultural work force, an extraordinary people's revolutionary named Wat Tyler sprang to his feet and announced “England should be a nation of self governing communities” to which he added “ No lord shall exercise lordship over the people, and, as we are oppressed by so vast a horde of bishops and clerks, the property of the holy church should be taken and divided.”

His colleague, the priest John Ball, spoke out with equal fervour “The lords' claims to be more lords than we are rests solely on their power to force us to labour that they may spend.”

A great surge of support for these proclamations swept through the farming communities of South East England, quickly spreading farther North. The farmers took up arms – whatever appropriate implements they could find in the farmyard – and set out on their mission to free themselves from the wicked landlords and clerks, who between them were taxing the life out of the farming communities throughout the land, destroying the livelihoods of thousands of countryside families.

The Austerity Diaries: How Long Can You Go Without Spending Money?

Daisy Luther

Most people spend money every single day.

I’m not talking about your day-to-day necessities like house payments and fuel for the vehicle. I’m talking about those little impulse buys that most of us make without thinking twice about them.

We spend more money on silly things than we realize.  If you spend money on the following, you could go a lot longer than you think without spending.

Strategies for a Neighborhood Prep Cooperative

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
Jon David Miller

Now that we are in a time of growing awareness of the potential for a societal breakdown disaster, forming a preparedness cooperative among your neighbors and friends is a crucially important idea.

As one of the founders of an urban natural foods cooperative in 1975, that continued to operate for 30 years through many changes, I understand the value and the challenges of such a venture in normal times.

At a time of easily perceived possibilities of chaos arising from either an economic collapse, an earth change, a power outage or some other social disruption event, forming a shared cooperative project with neighbors in a strategic geographic sector is essential.

The primary topics of concern are food, water, shelter, first aid and security. It is important to have thorough plans and adequate supplies of good food, pure water, first aid items, nutritional supplements, herbs, essential medications, clothing, flashlights, batteries, candles, alternative lights, matches and other fire starters, tools and off-grid heating, cooking, air quality and waste disposal equipment.

Who Are The Klingons?

"Missing Peace"
Anthony Freda Art
Clint Ward

When I submitted an earlier post I used the word Vulcan. I have always uses this as an analogy to friends because it best represents how I view things. If we could look into the future 100 maybe 200 years from now who from the fictional series Star Trek would we as a race most likely resemble? I would say at this juncture in time I would put my money on the Klingons.

I was appalled at the idiocy I saw this last year on a commercial on T.V. It was for some type of reality show where the celebrities go through the rigors of combat. Everything was there except the guns and the death, how perfect. Can you imagine the aliens when they invade bringing that much more terror on a civilian population than we have been able to achieve already, perhaps.

We are a warrior race are we not? Is not our history defined in many ways by war? Do you think we will treat any foreign life form with mercies and sympathies we do not extend to our own race?

This posting is another perspective attempting to share my feelings and thoughts. I did not enterthis contest to win a prize. I entered this contest because I was surprised and grateful that someone had the foresight to put on the contest. I entered this contest because I have children, family and friends in this world. If somehow I “won” this is what would I do. I would roll the winnings back into another contest, or at least attempt to, given this website or another was willing. Why, because this is what I fear, I fear that after this contest is over our gains will be degraded. At the present we have lots of viewpoints, ideas and information to digest. No doubt many of us are wiser for it. We have made an initiative and have profited from it. What is our next initiative, our next move?
