Cry for Argentina: Fiscal Mismanagement, Odious Debt or Pillage?
Ellen Brown
Argentina has now taken the US to The Hague for blocking the country’s 2005 settlement with the bulk of its creditors. The issue underscores the need for an international mechanism for nations to go bankrupt. Better yet would be a sustainable global monetary scheme that avoids the need for sovereign bankruptcy.
Argentina was the richest country in Latin America before decades of neoliberal and IMF-imposed economic policies drowned it in debt. A severe crisis in 2001 plunged it into the largest sovereign debt default in history. In 2005, it renegotiated its debt with most of its creditors at a 70% “haircut.” But the opportunist “vulture funds,” which had bought Argentine debt at distressed prices, held out for 100 cents on the dollar.
Paul Singer’s Elliott Management has spent over a decade aggressively trying to force Argentina to pay down nearly $1.3 billion in sovereign debt. Elliott would get about $300 million for bonds that Argentina claims it picked up for $48 million. Where most creditors have accepted payment at a 70% loss, Elliott Management would thus get a 600% return.

Swiss Banker Unmasks Bilderberg Criminals
ILLUMINATI CONSPIRACY CONFIRMED!
Henry Makow
"The Strauss-Kahn case ... shows these people are corrupt, sick in their minds, so sick they are full of vices and those vices are kept under wraps on their orders. Some of them like Strauss-Kahn rape women, others are sado maso, or paedophile and many are into Satanism. When you go in some banks you see these satanistic symbols, like in the Rothschild Bank in Zurich."
"They have a new plan to censor the internet, because the internet is still free. They want to control it and use terrorism or what ever as a reason. They could even plan something horrible so that they have an excuse."
Interview Took Place May 30 with the Russian Weekly magazine "NoviDen" (Thanks to NK for sending this.) Originally Posted Here

Economic Hitmen Strike Again: Spain Planning to Privatize Airports
Santiago Perez
Dow Jones Newswires
MADRID -(Dow Jones)- The Spanish government plans to privatize the country's top two airports, as part of a series of measures seeking to jumpstart anemic economic growth, Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said Wednesday.
Zapatero told legislators in Parliament that Madrid's Barajas and Barcelona's El Prat airports will be run by private operators under a licensing, or concession system. Both airports have been recently remodeled and expanded to absorb increased passenger traffic in coming years.
The measures announced by Zapatero seek to foster investment and growth after Spain's timid economic recovery stalled in the third quarter, as government austerity measures, high unemployment and weakening exports weighed on output.

UK Ministers plan huge sell off of Britain's forest to cut the deficit
Editor's Note: Economic hitmen move in for their pound of flesh in Britain. Surely the government will underestimate the value of their forest resources so the banks henchmen get a very good deal on one of the only remaining public assets in the U.K.
Patrick Hennessy and Rebecca Lefort
Telegraph
Caroline Spelman, the Environment Secretary, is expected to announce plans within days to dispose of about half of the 748,000 hectares of woodland overseen by the Forestry Commission by 2020.
The controversial decision will pave the way for a huge expansion in the number of Center Parcs-style holiday villages, golf courses, adventure sites and commercial logging operations throughout Britain as land is sold to private companies.
Legislation which currently governs the treatment of "ancient forests" such as the Forest of Dean and Sherwood Forest is likely to be changed giving private firms the right to cut down trees.
Laws governing Britain's forests were included in the Magna Carta of 1215, and some date back even earlier.
Conservation groups last night called on ministers to ensure that the public could still enjoy the landscape after the disposal, which will see some woodland areas given to community groups or charitable organisations.
However, large amounts of forests will be sold as the Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) seeks to make massive budget savings as demanded in last week's Spending
