Insane Amount of Militarized Police for Peaceful Protests in Anaheim

Activist Post

Anaheim, CA continues to be the site for a wave escalating police brutality protests following the chaos that ensued after the shooting of unarmed Manuel Diaz.  It has since come to light that Diaz was shot in the leg and the back of the head. The following day, Joel Acevedo was allegedly killed by police while already in handcuffs. These latest incidents have led to lawsuits and calls for federal investigation.

What began as a gathering of locals in response to what they believed was yet another incident in a string of police misconduct cases that have included 7 suspicious shootings with 5 deaths, has now morphed into a much larger mix of protesters after more than 10 days of marches. In our last update, we questioned if there might be provocateurs among the legitimate protesting public, especially since hacktivist collective Anonymous has become involved, and whether or not the escalating violence would justify full-blown militarization. Well, it appears we now have the answer to that question.

There has been a complete mainstream media blackout, despite the following video that shows what looks like a foreign occupation, with armored vehicles, and police with assault rifles. There are also photos of police with grenade launchers being employed in front of Disneyland. This is part of the trend for which the government's own documents suggest is preparation for widespread civil unrest in America; one where the police and military will work together to oppress Americans: it is the ultimate betrayal.

More Chaos in Anaheim as Protest Grows and Police Continue Firing With Blunt Force Ammunition

Activist Post

Crowds are getting more and more restless and angry in the wake of the fatal shooting of Manuel Diaz and the chaos that ensued.

Just a day later, another fatal shooting by Anaheim police was reported; this time of Joel Acevedo who was reportedly in handcuffs when the killing took place.

Last night the situation between police and the public seems to have spiraled further out of control, as reported below in the recorded livestream video by journalist Tim Pool from Timcast.tv. He gives a first-hand account of an escalating situation that is seeing police respond more forcefully, "firing indiscriminately in every direction and chasing (protesters) down the street." After a series of fires, presumedly set by locals, Pool returned to the scene where he and his partner were shot at multiple times, even after holding up a press pass. Tim also reports that seven people were arrested for a failure to disperse.

An AP report posted at Daily News Los Angeles reveals additional details about the scene last night, emerging facts about the original shooting of Diaz, as well as activist demands. Details and updates are posted below.

New Killing and Suspicious Actions by Anaheim Police Follow Previous Day Chaos

Activist Post

The killing of 24-year-old Manuel Diaz has sparked a new wave of protests against police brutality. Just one day after the chaotic scene that followed his death, which involved Anaheim officers releasing a police dog and firing rubber bullets into a crowd of men, women, and children, another incident has come to light today.

Amidst community outrage, Joel Acevedo is the latest to be shot dead; an incident that happened just a few blocks away from the Diaz killing. Witnesses are claiming that Acevedo was already in handcuffs when shot. (Source)

To make matters worse, officers are accused of shining flashlights toward nearby building residents in an attempt to block potential camera footage. This only adds more to the claims by some eyewitnesses of the melee the day before: that police offered to purchase their cell phone videos.

This is an ongoing situation which we hope does not spiral further out of control.

Police try to buy videos from witnesses after releasing attack dog on families and firing rubber bullets

Police in Anaheim, California have a lot of explaining to do after attempting to buy the videos captured by witnesses after shooting people with rubber bullets and releasing an attack dog on a crowd including a mother and her child.

Usually, we see people get arrestedbrutally beaten, or labeled “professional agitators” for legallyfilming police activities. Trying to actually buy the video from the witnesses is, at least in my opinion, a novel tactic in the ongoing war on accountability.

The video (at the bottom of the post) is nothing short of disturbing as it shows police shooting seemingly wildly into a crowd which includes young children and, most troubling of all, it even shows police releasing a dog which heads straight for a mother and her child.
