Dr. Oz: GMOs Can Be Ushering in a Pesticide Arms Race

Heather Callaghan

One thing's for sure: when Dr. Oz speaks, people listen. Many a healthfood store and tea shop owner have saluted him when he mentions their goods on air - and their stores fill up. In the past he has drawn cheers and jeers for his fluctuating stances on organic food and genetically modified organisms in the food supply.

Today, he makes a very clear stance, as a concerned doctor, against the EPA's pending approval of a new, toxic pesticide intended for use on genetically engineered crops like corn and soy - this country's biggest crops and food ingredients. He warns about floundering brain health, thyroid problems, chronic disease and more as a result of this stronger pesticide's use.

Today's episode of The Dr. Oz Show examines a new GMO pesticide that the EPA is on the very brink of approving because GMO crops now contain superweeds that have become resistant to glyphosate (Roundup). This new concoction called Enlist Duo, by Dow AgroSciences, contains both glyphosate and the choline salt of 2,4-D (2,4-D was one of the ingredients in Agent Orange).

Look Again: Who is Behind UK's Initiative to "Help the Bees"?

Anthony Freda Art
Heather Callaghan

With friends like these...

Recently I wrote about a large Canada-wide surveillance initiative: Look Who's Behind This Large Study to "Help the Bees". Following the money trail, one could see that Canada's government was placing "hope" for an answer unto major international biotech and agricultural companies such as Monsanto, BASF, Bayer, Syngenta etc... The very same companies whose chemical products are implicated for diminishing bee populations and have everything to gain by "finding" an answer that doesn't point back to them.

Does that seem like a gross conflict of interest to you?

It may or may not surprise you to know that similar shadow puppeteering is going on in the UK.

Pesticide Exposure Linked to Autism Spectrum Disorder

Heather Callaghan

Based on the sheer amount of research studies available dating back to the 1950s on the association between industrial chemicals and neurobehavioral disorders - it makes sense that more recent studies are finally starting to emphasize the chemical/neurodevelopmental disorder connection. That is, additional links to keynotes seen in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD symptomology.

Many agricultural pesticides are, after all, neurotoxic - that's how they work on eradicating the intended pest. While regulatory and corporate entities continue to espouse their safety, and while farmers are encouraged to wear protective gear - how are levels of chemical plume to be regulated for individuals who live right near application sites? What about the effects on the developing fetus?

UC Davis researchers in tandem with MIND Institute found a connection between pregnant women living in close proximity of California pesticide applications and later diagnoses of ASD and other developmental delays.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity: Victims of a Toxic Civilization

Sometimes even worse than having a mysterious illness is the fact that no one in the medical profession believes that you have this illness. Or, still worse than that, they don’t believe that the illness even exists.

Imagine being desperately ill and having your doctor tell you that it’s all in your head. Imagine being so incredibly ill that you are wasting away in front of your family’s eyes, and having your physician prescribe you psychiatric medications. Imagine that in your search for answers, you spend every penny you have and you still don’t have a diagnosis. Imagine being poisoned by your food, your air, your dentist, and the very medications that are supposed to be helping you.

Imagine being a victim of an instant-food, good-smelling, clean-looking toxic society.

A devastating condition called Multiple Chemical Sensitivity is unrecognized by the American Medical Association. Victims suffer from an array of symptoms including nausea, fatigue, dizziness, headaches, mental disorientation, inflammation, skin rashes, joint joint pain, gastrointestinal problems and respiratory problems. Conditions such as “chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, atypical connective tissue disease after silicone breast implants, chronic hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), drug-induced autoantibodies/hepatitis (liver toxicity), illness while living near a toxic waste dump site, dental amalgam disease, … MTBE (methyl-tert-butyl ether, a gasoline additive)-associated symptoms, [and] inflammation of the lungs caused by diesel exhaust particles” are related to, or overlap with MCS. Are Cosmetic Chemicals Contributing to Breast Cancer - Including Men?

Dr. Scott Graves
Activist Post

According to a study published in Breast Cancer Research, it is suggested that male breast cancer has been on the rise for the past 15 years. A study in the 2004 Journal of Toxicology, found that “18 out of 20 breast tumors contained significant concentration of parabens.” This study did not conclude a link between them and cancer; however, it raises red flags.

Most people are unaware of what a paraben is and what products actually contain them. If finding significant levels of parabens in breast tumors have been found, this would logically lead us to ask many questions such as: What are parabens? Are they harmful? In what products are they found? Are there alternative products that don’t contain them?

What are parabens?

What Dow Chemical Doesn’t Want You to Know About Your Water

Earlier this year, I was contacted by a PR firm working for Dow Chemical to contribute a 60-second video for The Future We Create virtual conference on water sustainability the company launches today. As a vocal advocate for strict regulation of toxic chemicals—especially for food and farming—I was surprised the company would approach me. Dow is the country’s largest chemical maker, and profits handsomely from developing some of the world’s most polluting products, many of which are widely used in industrial and consumer goods as well as agriculture.

In the video I submitted, which you can watch below, I stress that one of the greatest threats to clean water is chemical contaminants—and that Dow Chemical has a long history of water pollution. The PR representative e-mailed to say “unfortunately we can’t use your video,” but that she would be happy to include me, still, if I would consider re-recording it. When we discussed what that would mean she said, no “fingerpointing;” they wanted a “positive, inclusive discussion.”

Fluoride Poisoning – It’s All Over

Dees Illustration
Mary Sparrowdancer
TheNHFIreland

German and Austrian scientists knew in the
early 1930s that an over active thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
could be successfully treated by bathing patients in water
containing minute amounts of fluoride. They had discovered
nearly a century ago that fluoride blocked thyroid function.
For the US government, long partnered with the
pharmaceutical industry, to then force this same treatment
on a nation of people with healthy thyroids under the lie
that fluoride “prevents cavities in children,” is
unconscionable. The Nuremberg Code of ethics pertaining to
human experimentation labels it an act of crime, stating,
“The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely
essential.”  Today, 70% of the US is being forced to receive
this thyroid-blocking chemical via their water without
consent or medical monitoring for overdose, allergic
reaction or blocked thyroid function. The benefits are being
reaped by the largest of US industries:  the pharmaceutical
industry. Fluoride has created a nation of suffering people
seeking more drugs to treat blocked thyroids and fluoride
toxicity. We might drink bottled water, but most of us
cannot avoid the bathwater.

Deliberately damaging the thyroid will produce
a plethora of symptoms affecting the entire human body from
head to toe. Symptoms of thyroid damage and fluoride
poisoning include weight gain, edema, kidney disease, kidney
failure, hair loss, depression, aggression, aches, pains, skin problems, bone deformities (likely including
“arthritis” and spontaneous fractures), sexual/erectile
dysfunction, memory loss, weakness, fatigue, heart disease,
irritability, cancer, digestive disorders including severe
GERD as a result of swallowing fluoride, nausea, vomiting,
visual problems, gum disease, “high cholesterol,” connective
tissue damage, brittle teeth, wrinkles, premature aging,
dehydration, and long, long after the whole body has been
damaged, “cosmetic fluorosis” might finally show up in a
tooth or two. “Cosmetic fluorosis” is usually the only sign
of fluoride poisoning mentioned by fluoride promoters, while
downplaying the rest of the signs as though their
livelihoods depended upon it.

The Truth About 'Fluoride' (or what every Mother should know)

Fluoride used by Nazis to sterilize inmates and make them docile. Fluoride a key dumbing down ingredient of Prozac and Sarin nerve gas -- poisons of choice for tyrant rats.

Is your water Fluoridated?A. True Ott
GreatThings

First of all, it needs to be stated that the 'substance' referred to as 'Fluoride' is a misnomer - there is no such substance listed in the periodic chart of the elements, nor in the prestigious CRC handbook, nor in the sacred 'bible' of the pharmaceutical industry - the illustrious 'Merck Index'. Instead, we find a GAS called Fluorine - and from the use of this gas in various industries such as aluminum manufacturing and the nuclear industry -certain toxic byproducts are created which have 'captured' fluorine molecules. One such toxic, poisonous 'byproduct' is called sodium Fluoride - which according to the Merck Index is primarily used as rat and cockroach poison and is also the active ingredient in most toothpastes and as an "additive to drinking water". But sadly, there is much more to this sordid tale.

Did you know that sodium Fluoride is also one of the basic ingredients in both PROZAC (FLUoxetene Hydrochloride) and Sarin Nerve Gas (Isopropyl-Methyl-Phosphoryl FLUORIDE) - (Yes, folks the same Sarin Nerve Gas that terrorists released on a crowded Japanese subway train!). Let me repeat: the truth the American public needs to understand is the fact that Sodium Fluoride is nothing more (or less) than a hazardous waste by-product of the nuclear and aluminum industries. In addition to being the primary ingredient in rat and cockroach poisons, it is also a main ingredient in anesthetic, hypnotic, and psychiatric drugs as well as military NERVE GAS! Why, oh why then is it allowed to be added to the toothpastes and drinking water of the American people?

Radiation & Chemtrails Assaults: Additional Support for Your Immune System (Part 2)

Wiki Image
Dr. Ilya Sandra Perlingieri
Conscious Life News

“It is clear that dilution is not the solution to pollution. Dumping radioactive contaminated materials into bodies of water has a boomerang effect. It is not long before the ionizing radiation is washing back up on riverbanks and shorelines.” – Geoscientist Leuren Moret, 2008

[Part 1 is here: http://aircrap.org/radiation-support-immune-system/33118]

We are now living under daily radiation, chemical and biological siege. Because so much of this is invisible, it may be difficult for many people to comprehend the enormity of what is happening throughout our environment. The on-going catastrophe at Japan’s Fukushima ruined nuclear reactors continues to affect our entire planet. From the very beginning and behind the scenes of this epic crisis, the real reasons were deliberately covered-up. Safety factors were omitted, citizens continue to be put in harm’s way in Japan, throughout North America, and the rest of the planet. Mainstream Orwellian news is worthless in terms of reporting the magnitude and real dangers involved; so the public has never been properly informed. As with the on-going BP Gulf of Mexico oil-rig catastrophe, all we get as citizens are distortions and deception. Safe ways of handling this nightmare or real precaution were deliberately not part of any “emergency” plan.

CDC and EPA caught withholding truth about toxic drinking water

Jonathan Benson
Natural News

A recent story from The Washington Post reveals that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) knowingly dragged their feet on releasing an important report about the dangers of contaminated drinking water supplies. And top officials are now trying to justify this reprehensible action by claiming the agencies were only acting out of a human instinct that is "slow to admit error."

The CDC and EPA have tried to minimize the risks of lead in water supplies for years, but the recently released report on the 2004 lead contamination crisis of the Washington, D.C., water supply revealed that the problem was much worse than the agencies had originally indicated. And according to reports, the agencies just recently came forward and released the report after several years of delay and denial.

Many older neighborhoods are still served bylead pipes that release a steady stream of the toxin into drinking water. And in addition to denying the severity of the problem, the CDC and EPA have long stated that partial-pipe replacements are effective. However, the delayed report indicates that the agencies have known for a while that partial-pipe replacements can actually make the problem worse, but did not rectify their error in a timely manner.. So in essence, the agencies have been hiding vitally important information from the public for years in an effort to save face.

"They were too quick to publish a flawed study, and they were too slow to retract it, when they knew that others were relying on it," explained Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC), chairman of a committee that released a report back in may about the agencies' mishandling of the whole situation.

Spin doctors responded by trying to justify the agencies' dereliction of duty, deeming it as nothing more than a simple human error. Some even tried to claim the agencies were only trying to protect the public from becoming panicked over the situation.

4 Simple ways to save money by minimizing household chemicals naturally

Mary Hickcox, RN

We are addicted to chemicals:  bleach, ammonia, window cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, drain cleaner, shampoo, body wash, laundry detergent, fabric softener, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, body creams, shave gel, dish soap, antibacterial spray, deodorizer, mildew remover, and the list goes on and on. We have been convinced that we need these products in order to keep natural odors and bacteria, mold, and germs at bay.

But the cost is staggering in many ways.  They cause environmental damage, personal harm from an incredible amount of toxic chemicals combined in a day, and finally there's the actual financial cost.  Consequently, in the long run we spend all this money unnecessarily, given our access to easy and natural alternatives.

I'm as guilty as the next person, having spent loads of money on all these products over the years without considering the impact they had.  Admittedly, I even thought people were downright strange for some of the alternative products they were using.  I have slowly been awoken!

Having concerns about the chemicals that we exposed our children to was really the spark for us to investigate further.  We knew what we were doing was not great, but it took some research to really get on board with living more naturally.  I suppose the first step for me was deciding to use cloth diapers for my youngest son.  It was far easier than I thought it would be and it made me feel terrific about saving money and reducing our rubbish.  I began to wonder where else I could simplify our needs.

This year I saw The Story of Cosmeticswhich had a major impact on me.  I was shocked by the abundance of chemicals we expose ourselves to unnecessarily.  It really forced me to question what we were doing to ourselves, our children, and the planet. When talking to a good friend about how we could change our ways, she said to me, “well you just do the best you can do.”  At that moment, I realized that I may tell myself I'm doing my best, but I knew that I wasn't, and I knew I could do more.  Most importantly, it gave me the the desire to do better.

The following are simple ways that anyone can minimize household chemicals and save money.  Come on -- you know you can do better:

1. Vinegar and more vinegar
It's easy:  just stop buying all those products to clean your home and replace them all with plain white vinegar and you’ll see a huge savings on your grocery bill. Does it really work though?  I know that it seems crazy, because if it were true surely everyone would already be doing it, right?  Well, I have a very messy family of 5 including 3 boys under 12, two dogs, the occasional free-range chicken roaming in the kitchen, and vinegar still does the trick every time.  It is inexpensive, natural, safe, and kills 99% of bacteria and 85% of molds and germs. Vinegar works great on windows, floors, ceramic, counters, toilets, as a fabric softener, as an ant deterrent, and so much more.  One common concern is if it leaves that sour odor behind -- I can assure you it does not.  We use a 50/50 (water/vinegar) mix to keep it easy, and within 10 minutes after cleaning any surface the smell has dissipated.  It is easy, better for you and the environment, and you'll save a fortune.  I spend about $4 per month on vinegar, compared to over $30 that I was spending on various products it has replaced.  Buying natural (green) products may be a better option, chemically (if you can believe the label), but they typically come with an astronomically high price tag attached. Plain white vinegar is your best bet.

2. Baking Soda
What cannot be accomplished using vinegar can most likely be accomplished using another safe, cost effective item: baking soda.  It is a great odor eliminator and fire extinguisher, so many of us already have some in the house.  The simple ways that our family benefits from baking soda is as a deodorant and as an abrasive cleaner.  For deodorant, simply put some in a Tupperware container with dried lavender, dip a powder puff in and apply after your shower.  My husband was a skeptic and hesitant to try it at first, but after the first day he could not deny its effectiveness.  It's far safer than any deodorant on the market (you can also use a crystal stick, but we prefer baking soda).  At less then a dollar for a two-person month's worth, you will save big by swapping your deodorant for baking soda.  As an abrasive cleaner you can make a paste with a small amount of water, dip a sponge in and scrub away.  Effective, easy, and safe!  To live a more chemical-free lifestyle be sure to keep lots of this stuff on hand; it has many uses.

3. Make your own laundry detergent
Laundry detergent is one of the things that can greatly affect us; it covers most things that touch us and it is one of the more expensive items on any grocery list.  I make over 300 ounces of detergent in 10 minutes and it costs around $4, while Tide would cost $45-$50 for a comparable amount.  I use about the same amount as I would with a normal detergent, so clearly the savings is incredible.  To make an easy, effective detergent I grate a bar of soap (biodegradable, safe, and neutral bar of soap), throw it in a saucepan with a small amount of water, and cook until it is melted (about 5 minutes).  Take 2 gallons of hot, not boiling, water and add the soap to it.  Stir until dissolved, add 2 cups of baking soda and a few drops of tea tree oil or your preferred blend of essential oils, stir and pour into adequate containers.  I find that shaking the detergent before using ½ cup per large load is most effective.  It literally takes under 10 minutes to make, works wonderfully, and not only is safer for my family and the Earth, it also saves me at least $250-$300 per year.  There are many recipes out there on the Web, but I find this to be the easiest and most cost effective.

4. Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap
There are many brands of castile soap out there, but I find Dr. Bronner’s to be a great value for an exceptional product.  It is all vegetable based, fair trade, organic and completely biodegradable.  It's very easy to get as it can be ordered online or found at popular stores like Target. Castile soap can be used for many things, but we primarily use it for showering.  It can be used as shave gel, body wash, shampoo and even toothpaste.  I re-use an old 32-ounce shampoo bottle and put ¼ cup of castile soap and the rest water.  This combination seems to work well, but again, you can add various essential oils depending on taste and effectiveness as well.  It will be a bit more watery then you may be accustomed to, but believe me it works delightfully.  It also has an oil base, so I find that even with my thick hair I usually do not need any conditioner.  The diversity of uses is amazing and at $10-$15 per 32-ounce bottle,  figured with conservative dilution levels, it is far more cost effective than most shampoos or body washes, regular or green.

Take Action
These days we all spend a lot of time on the Internet, so why not spend some extra time researching what you can do to keep your family and the planet healthy?  There are numerous blogs and sites that can offer a wealth of knowledge on all types of natural, easy-to-make and use products.  If one thing you try doesn’t seem to work, then just look up a different recipe and try that; the information is out there we just need to be willing to seek it out and apply it.

All in all, these really are simple changes to make; it is just a matter of setting your mind to it.  I have continually been amazed at how easy it has been to make these changes, and how rewarding it feels to know I really am doing my best to make a difference in my household.  The information may feel overwhelming at times, especially when you see how toxic most commercial products are for you. But if you start simply and have faith that even one change can make a difference, you're on your way.

Change can be a challenge, especially when you are initiating it for the entire family.  Explain to them why it is so important and ensure them it will work and hopefully they will be accepting of your choices.  In my case, as the homemaker, I just implemented them by force -- ultimately to the approval of the clan. If you're a skeptic, then try changing just one product a month as an experiment. Within 6 months you will be able to look what you have done with pride that you saved money and created a healthier household and environment.

Pensacola Bay Lab Results 'Extremely Toxic to Human Health'

Lab results confirm that oil discovered in Pensacola Bay last month has extreme toxicity levels

Scott Page
Gulf Breeze News

Test results are in for oil material found in Pensacola Bay late last month, and the numbers are frightening.

A lab experienced in testing petroleum products determined that the oil’s toxicity levels are sky-high.

“In its natural state, the numbers are off the chart,” said Heather Reed, the environmental expert for the City of Gulf Breeze who made the discovery. “It’s extremely toxic to human health.”

Lab workers had to dilute the sample 20 times just to get a reading. Reed said samples are usually diluted only once.

“The oil is very well preserved,” Reed added. “It smells very strong when pulled out of the water. It made me nauseated.” Reed in late September discovered a significant amount of oil buried in submerged sediment near Fort McRae in Escambia County while conducting independent research.

“The oil was in about 3 feet of water and was buried pretty deep in the sediment,” Reed recalled. “The mats where between 6 inches and a foot in diameter, but some were more than 2 feet in diameter. I kept digging and finding more and more.

“Finding this submerged oil is very alarming to me because it’s in such large mats,” Reed explained. “I believe it came into (the bay) in June with the initial impacts.”

Reed on Sept. 30 revisited the site and another near Barrancas Beach with BP and Coast Guard officials to inform responders of her discovery. She also discovered oil present at Johnson Beach, Fort Pickens and Orange Beach through research she conducted in September.

The topography near Fort McRae helped preserve the submerged oil. Because the area is a secluded cove, very little water flows through it – resulting in low oxygen levels.
