8 Simple Budgeting Strategies to Survive Hard Times

Of all expenses people can control, perhaps the one with the biggest variation (percentage-wise) is food budgets. If you eat out all the time, these costs can be enormous. Or, at home, they can be modest – and with some gardening they can be very low.

The problem with budgeting, though, is it is no fun whatsoever. You get so many dollars set aside for eating, and that’s it.

So instead of such a dreary approach to food budgeting, George has been noodling some more interesting ways to make ends meet. How about eight simple budgeting strategies?

Survival Basics: Water Storage, Sourcing, and Purification

Clean water is something that we all take for granted. We turn on the faucet and there it is. It is plentiful, it is clean and it is drinkable. Yes, it may have some undesirable chemical additions (fluoride come to mind) but that is a subject for another day. So, if a disaster occurred and the supply lines to fresh water were comprised, we would be in a pickle. There is a possibility that safe water would not be available for days and possibly not for weeks.

For this reason, the American Red Cross, FEMA, and just about every other authority out there recommends that the public store at least one gallon of water per person, per day for a minimum of three days. But if you think that a three day water supply is adequate, think again.

A more reasonable recommendation is that you up the recommended amount of stored water to a two-week supply. So for two people that would be 2 people x 1 gallon x 14 days = 28 gallons. This amount should cover your minimal needs for drinking, food preparation and nominal – and I mean nominal – hygiene.

Global Nuclear War threat predicted in early November 2010 suggests Web Bot researcher

Researcher Clif High has published a prediction expecting a ‘tipping point’ around November 8, 2010 into global nuclear war, triggered by a mistaken Israeli-influenced attack on Iran.
Web Bot, or the Web Bot Project, refers to an Internet bot software program that is claimed to be able to predict future events by tracking keywords entered on the Internet. It was created in 1997, originally to predict stock market trends.[1] The creator of the Web Bot Project, Clif High, along with his associate George Ure, who call themselves “The Time Monks”[2], keep the technology and algorithms largely secret cites Wikipedia.
