How Government Agents (Besides Cops) Are Killing Family Pets

In recent years, police officers have developed an unfavorable reputation for shooting and killing dogs. Sometimes they do it while raiding the wrong home; sometimes they do it just for fun. While this epidemic of dog-killing cops has garnered a great deal of attention, the government is killings canines in another, equally sinister manner.

Animal control agencies are often tasked with euthanizing dogs that are vicious or who, because of limited resources, cannot fit in shelters. Few people question these deaths. However, a new reportfrom CNN reveals that animal control has been killing pets for far less legitimate reasons: because their owners cannot afford to pay fines on minor violations.

Oregon Deputies Shoot Family's Miniature Pony, Leave Body in Neighbor's Yard and Lie

It took one Oregon family awhile to discover what happened to their missing minature pony, named Gir. Gir was an American Miniature horse aged 30 and, aside from some arthritis, was in excellent shape but wouldn't have gotten too far if he escaped. They were forced to do their own detective work on February 18th when Gir wasn't in his stall even though the owner locked it and double-checked it.

And he didn't get too far at all. However, the Fitzgerald family was left to frantically search for him. When they started knocking on neighbors' doors, they discovered with horror Gir's dead body laying in the neighbor's yard.

Again, the family was left to seek answers. The neighbor said she had called the Sheriff's department and they came out and simply put the animal down. 

However, the tale the department eventually weaves is worse than the original complete lack of response...

This postal worker comes across friendly dogs, but also plenty of vicious dogs who will bite him if they get a chance. And sometimes, those dogs get loose. He nonchalantly points to a dog who bit him in the past. He wants people to know that "posties" love dogs. What would he think of our American police state that trains officers to shoot any kind of breed? Without prompting. 

But police officers always voice the fear of getting bit. This fear is upheld in the highest honor to them. "They were not bit because of their quick action. Basically, that was the end of the story."They shoot dogs before there would even be a remote possibility. It's the end of every senselessly bloody story where the owner is left to clean the mess; left with the bill and a ticket. "All I have to say is that I feel they're a threat." 

OUTRAGEOUS: Police Leave Note to Family, "We Killed Your Dog"

Just another sign that we are living in a total police state.  Now they just leave a note that they killed your 11-year-old Yellow Lab.  Terribly dangerous animal (with arthritis by the way).  No, what is terribly dangerous is allowing these police to stay on the force. (Ed.)
