Live by Treachery, Die by Treachery; A Historical Lesson About Selling Your Soul

Sadist, bully Nikolai Yezhov: The system in a sense
of ironic justice, cornered, tortured a false confession from,
and executed the man who had so eagerly dealt out
such a fate to so many others.

Bangkok, Thailand May 11, 2011 - Nikolai Yezhov served as a soldier in the Russian revolution, as a party member during Stalin's rise, then as a leading participant in Stalin's notorious purge. It is said that a policy paper penned by Yezhov served as the rhetorical justification for the arrest of 40 million Russians, 20 million of which would end up dead. He would lead the purging of not only the regime's opponents, but also the systematic purging of various military units and political supporters as well. For when the megalomaniacal tyrant looks across his dominion, all before him, both friend and foe, is but a sea of potential usurpers.

In the end, not even Nikolai Yezhov escaped the astronomical atrocity he had helped perpetuate. It is said he was dragged, weeping hysterically to the executioner's room. He then scurried about like a rat attempting to dodge the bullets he had once so eagerly dealt out. After his execution, Stalin would literally have his memory erased by having his image removed from photos taken together. Yezhov was not the only treacherous set of helping hands to be cut off by Stalin's regime. His predecessor and successor both met similar fates.

War is a Crime

As Obama's crime of the destruction of Bradley Manning continues to unfold before our very eyes, Manning friend David House now tells us that over 8 months in isolation with movement and sleep restrictions placed on him have been having their intended effect.  House has told MSNBCthat by the end of January Manning appeared "catatonic"  and that he had "severe problems communicating," with it having taken House nearly 45 minutes on a recent visit to engage in any meaningful way (video below.)  House said Manning's demeanor was as "if he had just woken up and didn't know what was going on around him."   Manning was "utterly exhausted physically and mentally...it was difficult to have any kind of social engagement."

Also, a full month after Congressman Dennis Kucinich formally requested a visit, the Army has stalled on the request.

All for the crime of reporting war crimes and criminal behavior even among the highest-ranking military officials in Iraq.

In 2005, General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said: “It is absolutely the responsibility of every U.S. service member [in Iraq], if they see inhumane treatment being conducted, to try to stop it.”

UN calls for probe into US inaction on torture

Fragmentary order 242' allowed US forces to ignore torture allegations: report

Daniel Tencer -- Raw Story

The United Nations' point man on torture is calling on the Obama administration to open a full investigation into newly-released documents that suggest the US may have turned a blind eye to torture in Iraq.

Manfred Nowak, the UN's special rapporteur on torture, told the BBC Saturday that the US has an "obligation" to look into reports of torture within the nearly 400,000 war documents released by WikiLeaks on Friday.

The documents chronicle numerous allegations of torture by Iraqi forces against their own citizens, as well as what appears to have been a standing order in the US military to ignore the allegations -- potentially a violation of international conventions on torture.

"There is an obligation to investigate whenever there are credible allegations torture has happened – and these allegations are more than credible – and then it is up to the courts," Nowak, an Austrian human rights lawyer, said, as quoted at the Telegraph.
