It seems like everywhere I go online, I am met with the diligence of Andrew Demeter. I wrote about his award-winning mini-documentary "We The People, Genetically Modified." Expertly produced, it encompassed a lot of information for a short video and was the perfect crash course to share the issue with friends. And yes, Andrew Demeter is the one who confronted Nancy Pelosi on the NSA. He talks about it afterward, here.

When he is not busy developing independent journalism out of Cleveland, OH, he is running his YouTube channel, TeenTake. Or accepting scholarships for the Mises Institute or reading invitations to give a TED Talk. Now he is asking for support to produce the very first news channel run entirely by teens, called Politicast.

7 Ways to Rekindle the Quest for Truth

In recent months I have found myself shrugging in disgust as I browse the web and read the latest headlines. I mumble the words I used to say in the old days, “par for the course”. I say that as I find myself becoming complacent while reading the latest news of government excess, corporate shenanigans, sneaky banksters and Wall Street crooks.

More often than not I feel as though I am sitting on a deck chair of the Titanic, slowing watching the ship go down. Pretty sad, I know.

This is not just the alternative press that I am reading, mind you. The main stream media is slowing coming around too as courageous reporters and their editors issue a rally call to anyone who will listen. The message is loud and clear: things are bad, our elected leaders are out of control and any day now our society is going to go to heck in a hand basket.

I exaggerate a bit but not by much. Is it eyeball fatigue that is hitting me so hard? My perception is that much of what I read is the same news I was reading three years ago. The only difference is that it has been repackaged, rehashed and refreshed. The cast of characters may have changed a bit but the same tactics of oppression and submission have not. If anything, things are worse.

Do you remember this guy, Jason Russell? He was the frontman for the short-lived and over-hyped "Kony 2012" propaganda campaign that exploited young people's emotions to popularize a U.S. military invasion of Uganda. After his lies were exposed on the Internet he had a shocking meltdown in public. He ran around naked near traffic lights, smashed his fists on the pavement, and screamed bizarrely. The heavy spirit of Madness conquered his weak will.

The day before his freakish breakdown Russell was idolized in the mainstream press as a saint on a mission to save the children of Africa. His war propaganda documentary about the deceased CIA contractor Joseph Kony became hugely popular on Facebook and other social media outlets. But as soon as his mask came down and his craziness was captured by cameras, the media vultures forgot about his crusade and quickly moved on to the next hot story.
