She Used to Be In A Wheel Chair - The TED Talk That Comes With a Warning

Heather Callaghan

Yesterday, I wanted to share the great news about people who were actually successfully reversing their ALS, also called Lou Gehrig's. It turns out, people are also reversing another neurodegenerative disease - Multiple Sclerosis.

Against all odds, and without much success in the conventional medical system, some people are discovering a way back to life, foregoing the belief in the typical death-sentence prognosis. They make connections about auto-immune conditions, the brain and the nervous system. They make connections, using an array of research studies and their own bodies, experimenting with specific nutrients and lifestyle changes.

Below you will find a couple talks that show how people are reversing MS - specifically, Dr. Terry Wahls, a medical researcher and former Taekwondo champion who wound up in a wheelchair a few years after her MS diagnosis. She calls herself a canary in the coal mine for everyone else and reminds us of the dire importance of minding our mitochondria - with nutrient dense food.

Recently, TED changed its talk protocols basically eschewing anything that, to them, hinted at "pseudo-science" or unproven theories. But what follows is a TEDx Independent talk so there is some leeway there - with warnings.

On YouTube, you can find some footage from young people with MS who have experienced a 180 shift on the protocol she suggests.

The following warning pops up over the video throughout the talk:

This talk, which was filmed at an independent TEDx event, falls outside TEDx's curatorial guidelines...
But the more ominous warning appears in the description of the video:
Note from TED: This talk, which features health advice based on a personal narrative, has been flagged as potentially outside TED's curatorial guidelines. Viewer discretion advised.

It's interesting to note that diseases like ALS, MS, Fibromyalgia and problems like ADHD symptomology are often a misdiagnosis of underlying chronic Lyme infection. And - that people who have found alleviation from each of those problems follow a protocol like Wahls' - an approach identical to auto-immune paleo. This is among the top reasons to support freedom to access these nutrient-dense foods, the proliferation of them and changes in the current food system.

If you want to see a more unhindered talk of Dr. Terry Wahls, with more information about her lifestyle, see this one below:
