WASHINGTON — Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano today announced the expansion of the Department’s national “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign to hundreds of Walmart stores across the country—launching a new partnership between DHS and Walmart to help the American public play an active role in ensuring the safety and security of our nation.
Editor's Note:Please contact Walmart to let them know that you do not want the DHS "if you see something, say something" campaign in your local store. A Walmart representative will take your information and offer a call back. You will be asked for your name, zip code, local store location/address, and your phone number. I'm sure you can also express your concerns anonymously.
I know that many people are outraged by the marriage between big business and big sis, but please don't forget to be courteous. You are more likely to be heard, if you remain calm and courteous.
I simply explained to the representative that I read a news report about the "program"; I am concerned about the ever increasing police state such as the recent airport screenings, the newly developed security screening at bus and train stations, sporting events, etc.; I am concerned that people will be detained and arrested based on frivolous complaints by others. The loss of our freedom is at risk. I oppose the implementation of the "program" based on the fact that it is inappropriate for a private business to allow the federal government to propagandize the "War on Terror" by turning citizen against citizen. If implemented, I will not shop at Walmart.
